Darrsi, you're right and yet paradoxically you've also summarised why there's the real need :lol Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - Paulfzs - 11-10-15 (11-10-15, 11:29 AM)kebab19 link Wrote:
Darrsi, you're right and yet paradoxically you've also summarised why there's the real need :lol
+1 to this. the problem isnt always the keeping ontop of the cleaning, people dont always look after them and you end up buying a bike with a knackered rear caliper, leaves you with the cost of a rebuilt then the pain of constant cleaning or spend a few quid more and buy the thou caliper. Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - darrsi - 11-10-15 Surely that needs cleaning too? ![]() Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - kebab19 - 11-10-15 (11-10-15, 02:38 PM)darrsi link Wrote:Surely that needs cleaning too? Not overly, I've run both a TRX850 and XJR1300 rear caliper on the rear and only cleaned each of them once a year. Neither was anywhere near seized; I think that the original caliper design somehow retains moisture, whereas on the above calipers any water finds it's way out through the gaps in the plastic pad covers. Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - joebloggs - 11-10-15 If you need a rear brake your not using your fronts hard enough....... :b Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - RMT1983 - 11-10-15 yeah coz what you want to do it the pouring rain or cold icy mornings is be hard on the front brakes!!! No brakes if I can help it on an icy morning and fronts only in the rain, load it up slowly then brake as hard as you want. With enough force on the front the rear will always lock wet or dry unless your just lightly pressing on it at which point its a waste of time using it. Been riding almost 30 years and never brought a set of rear brake pads. Re: FZS 1000 Caliper ready to fit to your FZS 600...................... - RMT1983 - 11-10-15 I commute every day, my fronts aren't used anywhere near as much as the rear!!! Id much rather have a tighter rear end any day of the week!!! |
