Automatic Camera Device - Andy Clap - 28-09-15
Couple of weeks ago I was caught speeding by a chap with a camera on a tripod.
Offer of fixed penalty has arrived, stating I was caught by an Automatic Camera Device. I thought these were the yellow boxes on poles. Surely mine was manned?

They've got most if not all the loopholes pretty much sorted these days. I got off a couple of times using the PACE form although the last time I tried using it, it cost me quite a few dollars + 3 points grrrr
If theres an option for speed awareness I'd take it.

Automatic just means the way the speed was checked and pictures etc taken.
Just because there is a man standing beside it to stop the local scrotes nicking it doesn't make it a manned device.

Don't be so hard on yourself fella, i had a 530 TMAX scooter rider fly past me the other day then i watched him weave in and out as if the vehicles were moving traffic cones, how he never caused an accidentor hurt himself still amazes me, it was beyond reckless riding? In fact i'll be bold enough to say he was riding like an absolute cnut.
And i've only ever been nicked twice in 28 years of riding, but in exactly the same spot, by going down hill on an empty dual carriage way both times on sunny days with no danger or recklessness to anyone!
Shit happens, just accept it and move on.
It won't affect your insurance at all. :thumbup

And 3 points really is nothing, had 12 points up until Jan this year, and I'd got them all within a year, made for some very careful driving as I'd had to almost get on my hands and knee's to avoid a ban.
And like Darrsi every point was from speeding on tthe open road grrrrr
