Anyone know owt about Fazer 8's - Frosties - 19-09-15

Stuck a post in the Fazer 8 section about the bike. If anyone has any experience and advice they can offer it would be much appreciated.

Hiya fellas,As per title really. Looking to replace my Tiger 900 and had a look at a lovely blue 2011 Fazer 8 - 11k miles, 1 owner, fully serviced, with new PR3 tyres and rack also thrown in for £4,800 from a main dealer.Thing is, I need to do about 180 miles from a tank but all the reviews say that 40 - 45mpg is the average. With a 17 litre tank I'm not going to manage it.......or am I ? My daily one way use is 30 m/way miles at 90 mph then 10 -15 miles dodging round London. Any advice much appreciated :thumbup

Noggy - I dunno frostiesNot the busiest place the 8 side of th forum but im sure they'll jump at the chance for some action.I think we all pretty much established that on the thou 150 miles coul e squeezed out.Could be wrong here but i think most stuff is the same and so surely going from 1000cc to 800cc could gain you those extra 30 miles.......but even if it does you'll be cuffing it i reckon rather than comfortably knowing it is so.They are still heavy those 8's so regardless of cc drop they still gotta lug allot of weight about. They certainly dont do 200 or we'd have heard plenty trumpetting about that long ago ie comparing to the Gen1 thou etc etc.....how well do they cut hedges though type stuff.

Me - Doesn't seem to be busy Nog. I know they didn't sell loads buuuuut.........From what i can gather, the lump is a sleeved down thou jobby but could be wrong. Read on the web some guy was averaging 55mpg and squeezed 192 miles with a twitchy arse which leaves just over a litre - didn't explain his riding style though. After my van collision (first in over 25yrs) up town where I locked in the wet (no time to cadence), a little switch has turned on in my head re ABS. I've changed to PR3's which may have helped at the time but who knows.....the switch is on and I'm going to out the Tiger to gain ABS (not allowed to fill that space in the garage with a 3rd
:rolleyes ). I bloody love the Tiger but the Fazer 600 is a much better town bike squeezing those gaps so of more use to me.Reckon they'd trim that hedge a damm sight better than Nicks poor effort  :lol

Going from full tank to reserve, I get between 175 and 200 miles on my FZ6-SA (04-06 model, faired, ABS with Power Commander III to smooth out the power curve), depending on whether it's winter or summer (summer fuel formulation gives extra mileage for some reason).

According to the book, there's about 20 miles on reserve, but although I've never tried it, I calculate it may be possible to get as much as 40 on reserve.

Cheers for that Graham, appreciated. Reckon a Fazer 8 would maybe do similar to a Gen1 thou as said by Noggy. Think it would struggle to hit 170 to a tank on daily use. Going to give it a miss me thinks.
