Does the cylinder block have core plugs fitted on the side between the fins?

Yeah, you can order some new ones at ibelieveinfairys.com

Sure that's not whataknob.com

Do any motorcycle engines need core plugs? Car etc engines have massive castings forming the whole bottom end and cylinder block in one piece, bikes have relatively small components in comparison so less need to have holes left in castings to remove the media used to form cooling channels in and around the block
Of course some will prove me wrong but I've never seen one.

The reason I asked the  (stupid to some)  question was after doing a coolant change there was liquid coming from apparent tube between 2nd and 3rd fin on first running the engine there seemed to be possible spray/steam from the same.  It appears to be ok now (touchwood)

That's a drain hole/passage to the spark plug well, there is another the other side, should be kept clear so any water that gets there can drain away  Wink

Cheers for that Ebme, all has become clear now Wink

I bet you're seeing the coolant on the right side of the engine? The thermostat where you put the coolant in is above that drain hole so any spillage when filling goes in there so I'd say it's just a bit of spillage
