Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - joebloggs - 05-09-15 No grabrail on the bike (came with damaged rack) and the holes in the tail section are approximately 26mm dia. Anybody plugged theirs and if so what grommets did you use and where from? Thanks Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - wraith600 - 06-09-15 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RUBBER-GROMMETS-6-9-12-16-20-25-32-38-50mm-1-4-3-8-1-2-5-8-1-2-cable-/281026511967?var=&hash=item416e7c445f Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - fazersharp - 06-09-15 I used some (black in my case) sticky back plastic, two layers cut into a lozenge shape to cover both holes on each side in one go. That way nothing sticks up and is almost invisible. I used two layers so that it was a bit thicker because with one layer you could still see an indent where the holes were Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - darrsi - 06-09-15 How tight is that chain? Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - fazersharp - 06-09-15 Just touches the rubber guide with out too much trouble when pushed up Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - darrsi - 06-09-15 (06-09-15, 10:57 AM)fazersharp link Wrote: Just touches the rubber guide with out too much trouble when pushed up Looks so taut in that picture. Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - fazersharp - 06-09-15 Just the angle making it look so Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - flakey - 06-09-15 i bought these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160841212126?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT fit lovely, message me your address and could send you 4 as i have 6 spare Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - stevierst - 06-09-15 Just for info. Be careful, there was a tail end change of the Fazer 600 about 2001 ish where they changed from the tubular grabrail to the moulded one. The holes are a bit bigger in the later bike. I think the tank protector spots are the way to go Thanks again ![]() Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - fazersharp - 07-09-15 Quote:metallic orange/bronze paintwork So a custom paint job, if you have any then you could paint the spots. In real life and not a photo you can see mine a little and I am mindful when cleaning not to press and "dish" the holes. I think the bike looks better without the rail - along with jacking up the numberplate and cutting off the end of the rear fender Re: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted - joebloggs - 07-09-15 (07-09-15, 10:03 AM)fazersharp link Wrote:Quote:metallic orange/bronze paintwork Paint was done before I brought the bike, spots work for me as they would appear to have a purpose if you know what I mean Agree with you re removing the rails, as I said I never had any in the first place but I'd have probably ditched them either way. Of course now I'll have to change the ones on the tank to match as my ocd will bug the hell out of me |
