nut debate - devilsyam - 01-09-15 Well been bit of discussion between mates on which side the axle nut should be all my gen 1's have been on the right side (when sat on bike) And the same on my gen 2 Steves is on the left as is hedgetrimer 3 Is there a correct side can't see makes f all difference Debate Re: nut debate - darrsi - 01-09-15 https://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9754/31/yamaha%20fzs1000%20fazer%2001-03/rear%20wheel?uID=0 Re: nut debate - Dead Eye - 01-09-15 Mine's on the left as in the above diagram - same with both my Boxeyes as well ![]() Re: nut debate - lew600fazer - 01-09-15 My Gen 2 is on the right hand side (brake side) I would imagine as it is a right hand thread it would follow that direction of rotation wheel may have something to do with it ?? Re: nut debate - devilsyam - 01-09-15 That was my theory Re: nut debate - HarryHornby - 01-09-15 my first boxeye and my current one have the nut on the left. PS, don't suppose you have 2 washers for a Fzs600 rear axle do you? Re: nut debate - Skippernick - 01-09-15 Cashews are the best nuts! Re: nut debate - dazza - 01-09-15 Mine's on the right side which would be the left, can't see that it makes any difference except the exhaust can restrict movement of a long torque wrench and less likely to burn yourself on it. The axle would be more inclined to follow the wheel rotation which would cause it to rotate anti clockwise, this which would effectively loosen the nut as it has no reason to move ????? :eek All the Gen 1 and the 600s are on the left, all gen 2s are on the right, the Fz6 is on the left and Fz8 is on the right, focs up all theories Re: nut debate - slimwilly - 01-09-15 What an odd question,,but then when you think about it, a good question,,so does it make a difference, yes if the nut is on the clutch lever side then if an wheel could possibly seize and grab a wheel bolt then I would unwind it, but then if it was the other way then a serious lock up would occur.. Well I think not,,just put the correct washers, spacers, anti twist plates etc on in the right place and bobs your uncle Re: nut debate - joebloggs - 01-09-15 Its the nut on the steering thats the issue Re: nut debate - noggythenog - 01-09-15 (01-09-15, 04:41 PM)HarryHornby link Wrote: my first boxeye and my current one have the nut on the left. Harry are you still on about these things.....have you got any to compare against as I might have them in the shed if they are specific....if they are just standard ish looking washers then I probably used them on something else but bespoke and they might be lurking around......or I might have given them to fizzy when he got my swingarm....anyway get a pic up. :photo Re: nut debate - esetest - 02-09-15 Mines on the left , assumed they were all like that . |
