As far as I know the exhaust is stainless steel at the front and under the engine and to the cat, you can check with a magnet as stainless is non magnetic, so there should be no need to remove it. The nuts on mine are very rusty, I dont know if you could get a nut spliter on or cut them off but unless you need the engine out (or maybe the swingarm) then why worry about it.

I say dont do it....any doubts dont do it....plenty excellent bikes out there for 2k & if it's your first then spend a tad extra & buy from a reputable dealer because there's also plenty crooks out there too.

Also bare in mind the 06 fazer is a completely different machine to the 2000 that you learned on, different character, chassis, engine, all different...both are good bikes...just different

Some stainless steels are magnetic as well. It depends what state the material is in. Austenitic stainless is not magnetic, but ferritic is.

and don't forget martensitic, duplex and precipitation hardening to make up the 5 types of stainless, all I know is you get more for the non-magnetic when you take it to the scrap yard?
