Occasional problem changing gear - jeffco - 04-08-15 For a while now I seem to have a problem changing down gears if I have brought the bike to a stop without down changing as I slowed, when im stopped and I try to change down it will go down to about 3rd them wont go further without a bit of jiggling about. Other than that the gearbox is fine, no missed/ sticky gears and changes down fine if I change down as im slowing. Is this a common problem? or are dark clouds forming on my horizon ? You can tell that ive just had a week in Scotland , still looking for bloody dark clouds... Re: Occasional problem changing gear - unfazed - 04-08-15 That would be normal enough as the gears need to be rotating to mesh properly. Let the clutch in and out a bit to get the gears to rotate a bit to the correct position when changing at a standstill. Re: Occasional problem changing gear - ste131 - 04-08-15 Yeah, its normal. It has to select through rotation. Just go down the gears before you stop or slip clutch. Catches us all out sometimes when we think brakes first! Re: Occasional problem changing gear - jeffco - 04-08-15 Thanks lads.... It only happened cos it was pissing down and I had to stop pretty sharp, I was more concerned about staying on it than changing gears. I guess most of us have been in that situation once or twice :lol |
