carb balancing - would you take this reading? - HarryHornby - 25-07-15
Every time I adjust one it seems to have a knock on effect, this seems to be the best I can get, is it ok or do I have to keep going?

I've done this twice recently and it certainly can be very frustrating.
You can obviously get better than that with a lot of patience and minimal tweaking, but at the same time that is a very acceptable reading, so it's perfectly fine to leave it as it is.

It does flutter about on idle and by eye the "average" reading seems better than this. below are 5 pictures taken within a couple of seconds of eachother. I think this is pretty much balanced, they never sit totally still

That's bang on, leave well alone now.
When i last did mine they were all over the place because i'd previously synced them with a dirty air filter, but the bike still ran, just not as efficiently or smoothly as when they are nicely balanced.
I'd imagine 80%+ of people are riding around with unsynced carbs but don't actually know any different.

Hi harry, I take it your using the "morgan carb tune"....not used this type before, do they have "dampening screws on them ?....if you can adjust the gauge to stop the fluctuation you'll be able to get them bang on with a little time and PATIENCE :pokefun

no screws, you have to cut down a thinner (restrictive) tube to put in the main tubes (making sure they are the same length).
Maybe if you have a better method you could come round for a brew and show me........ :kiss

I know my carbs need doing, but 1.. I dont have a carb balance kit, 2.. I cant really be arsed... unless somebody wants to help ( offer ) to do it.

I hate doing it but the results are really worth it.
