HID mod - sinto607276 - 18-07-15 Just a couple of pics of my HID mod, still to tidy it up a bit and try it at night, but it's brighter than standard candlelight and gets me noticed more during the day so that's always a bonus ![]() Re: HID mod - Freck - 18-07-15 What kit have you used Colin, and how simple was it to do? I'm thinking of doing the same while I've got the front of my bike apart. Any advice or tips will be most appreciated ![]() Steve Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 18-07-15 (18-07-15, 06:47 PM)Freck link Wrote: What kit have you used Colin, and how simple was it to do?Hi Steve, easier doing it when in situ. It's a kit I had from years ago, it's not the H1 bulb but I just wanted to see with what I've got just to try it, I'll now get the HID H1 bulb as well as the H4 for the other side, but that involves running power from the battery or a power source because of the dual element. If your getting a new set, instructions should be enclosed. I'd advise on making sure they are slim ballasts version. You just connect the wires that go from the HID into the main light (the black connector), put in the HID bulb and secure, but you'll need one of these http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=371345170628&alt=web As they're not supplied with the kits. (not any I've seen anyhow) Tidy up and secure balast and wires under left hand fairing cover. Problems you may have..... HID kits generally come in sets of two bulbs the same ![]() Ways round this are....get a 'buddy' to buy a set with you and split the costs? Or contact the seller and explain your situation so you only buy one H1 & one H4. I do intend to get the proper bulbs as I'm in discussions with a supplier at the moment. But if anyone's in Glasgow(ish) area I'd be happy to help them ![]() ![]() Re: HID mod - anutz - 18-07-15 reports coming in of a fast moving light....darting around.....oh its Sinto.... :b nice work ![]() Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 18-07-15 :pokefun @ anutz :lol Re: HID mod - marino - 28-07-15 did you upgrade both bulbs or just single? Hard to figure out from words, post or send me some pics and I'll let you know. Or from this pic, can you tell me what's missing? Colin Re: HID mod - Paulfzs - 06-08-15 its the power plug part that goes from the ballast to the headlight h1 connector on the bike. ive got the rest it powers up when i "bodge" the wires to the power. Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 06-08-15 Bodging isn't the best but it'll see you through till you get it sorted. Have you contacted the place where you bought it from? The plug you refer to, is waterproof and also dustproof, best to get the right plug harness as some are different, they aren't universal although they do look the same. Others will have the positive and negative feeds coming out the ballast differently, hence the reason to get the right one. Re: HID mod - Paulfzs - 06-08-15 mines the same as this so bit of a pain as it has a plug slot not an extra wire to plug into. ![]() Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 06-08-15 What actual parts do you have? Re: HID mod - Paulfzs - 06-08-15 the above ballast and the bulb. this is what i have ![]() Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 06-08-15 So you've not got the black box as shown in my picture? You really need that, it has the electronics in it that converts the voltage. You have to get onto to supplier and chin them for it, you won't be doing any good to your hid bulb if you connect it straight into the ballast as you have done in your test. Re: HID mod - Paulfzs - 06-08-15 ok thanks, i will try and find one. im sure it won't really matter aslong as the plugs fit and its for the 35w ballast? Re: HID mod - sinto607276 - 06-08-15 Yeah you should be fine if you get the right connection, I personally wouldn't put it on my bike till I got the part. Re: HID mod - Paulfzs - 06-08-15 its on my sofa haha, i only wanted to test it really. ordering part later on tonight |
