Re: manky helmet - Stewie - 10-07-15

I used on on the kids when they were small.
Dont know what its like on helmets or grown ups..

Maybe remove the linings and give them a run through the washing machine?
Most likely due to heat at the moment though.

Used that quite a few times, always some in our house with six grandkids

Re: manky helmet - Fazerider - 10-07-15

More a preventative thing than actually answering the question, but I put a sheet of kitchen roll in there and replace it after a couple of weeks use.

Re: manky helmet - celticdog - 10-07-15

If Red is like me, removable linings weren't invented back in the day, far too simple a solution.
Baby shampoo is a good start, even better while you have hot weather to dry it out quickly as well.

Re: manky helmet - darrsi - 11-07-15

Just seen the photo of the lid, didn't scroll down.

So you put a panty pad in to sort things out?

Re: manky helmet - red98 - 11-07-15

:lol :lol :lol ......very nearly dry when they came out of the washing machine,on a 600rpm spin any more and i think it my have damaged the foam.was close to buying a new lid as i need a new visor anyway, had nothing to lose by trying, happy with results but a test ride on a summers day will tell....that will be tomorrow when i buy a new visor  Smile

Re: manky helmet - Punkstig - 12-07-15

Thanks, you've reminded me to wash mine!

Re: manky helmet - stevierst - 12-07-15

And me, mine stinks! Tongue

Re: manky helmet - red98 - 12-07-15

Been for a test ride this morning, lids much better and is "mountain fresh"  :lol....its also "puffed"up the foam making the helmet a snugger fit, particularly the cheek pads  Smile

went down to infinity motorcycles in camberley to get a new visor, but they dont stock them, can order them but might aswell order on interweb and get it cheaper.....might go for the Korean ones, half price but upto two weeks delivery time.

anyone bought one of these ? How long did it take to come ?....iam an inpatient foccer  :lol

Re: manky helmet - Stewie - 15-07-15

Good result.
I put mine through the machine every couple of months, as you say happy side effect is to keep the pads puffed up for a good fit.

Re: manky helmet - stevie-g1968 - 16-07-15

Manky helmet, you dirty old goat... baby shampoo works well.. on the visor front I get mine from korea and the turn up quick er than uk ordered ones.
