Differences in frames - anutz - 27-06-15 Anyone know if there are any differences in the frames across the Boxeye range from 1998-2002, i know 2003 was Fox Eye....not sure if thats the same Re: Differences in frames - stevierst - 27-06-15 As far as I know it was only the Nosecone/headlights that changed, the rest stayed the same. Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 27-06-15 you looking for a frame now Anutz? Re: Differences in frames - anutz - 27-06-15 might be yes, i have a lot of spare parts, spare engine, etc and other bits, so may not be impossible to get another bike together, was just wandering about if frames differed... my current bike i should have MOT soon, this is just another project Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 27-06-15 I still have the frame from my old 2001 600, it has been under the lean-to at the side of my house....just......well just sitting there being a frame really........I have the V5 for it somewhere too.....could be an option when you get round to it. the right side little bracket thingy that attaches to the front fairing was snapped off when I crashed it but apart from that I think it is pretty solid...it is behind so much stuff I haven't really looked at it. Re: Differences in frames - riedrider - 27-06-15 Quote:As far as I know it was only the Nosecone/headlights that changed, the rest stayed the same. There was a little bit more. And the foxeye came in 2002 not in 2003. Fuel tank volume grew from 18 to 20 (in 2000) to 22 liters (in 2002). Exhaust was lowered in 2000 to give a better seat position for the rear passenger due to lower footpegs. And the passengers handle was changed in 2000 (resulting in a slight modification of the rear fairing). According to the official part catalogue (at least avialable in Germany for everyone) there are 4 differnent part numbers for the frames: 1998 and 1999 5DM-21110-00 2000 5DM-21110-10 2001 5DM-21110-20 or 5DM-21110-21 depending on VIN 2002 and 2003 5RT-21110-00 So there should be more or less big differences between the different years. But also a simple change in the colouring might be a reason for a new part number. Maybe the black tone was slightly changed. Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 29-06-15 Anutz heres pics, granted theres a smidge of surface rust crept in here and there but it has been sat there a while. Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 29-06-15 ..... Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 29-06-15 I just like pics, so before/during the strip down Re: Differences in frames - limax2 - 29-06-15 The little brackets welded to the frame that support the back part of the fairing and infills are different on the foxeye model. The mounting on the front of the frame for the headlight/fairing bracket is the same, but of course the big bracket that bolts to the frame is totally different on the foxeye. I don't know if there are any other differences with the frame. Re: Differences in frames - Jules-C - 29-06-15 Later models that don't have breather pipes attached direct to underside of tank might have an extra bracket welded to frame to hold the tray thing the pipes attach to. Looks like the fairing brackets are the only major difference Re: Differences in frames - anutz - 29-06-15 luckily my frame has the same model NO as the one Noggy has.....so thats nice :lol Re: Differences in frames - anutz - 30-06-15 So, frames and V5's, when you buy a frame/sell a frame is that an ownership change for the bike? Re: Differences in frames - Jules-C - 30-06-15 The frame is normally assumed to be the vehicle and the V5 would go with it like a normal sale. If you don't have the V5 you can get the DVLA to issue a new one for that frame number the same as any lost V5 and it'll have the same numberplate as before and just need to get MOT once the build is finished. It could be trickier if the V5 has been returned to DVLA with the box ticked to say the vehicle has been scrapped or if it has been recorded as a serious write off in which case you may have to apply for a new numberplate to be issued. Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 30-06-15 If you end up buying my frame then i have the V5 & a number plate actually, be funny to see the old plate rise from the dead.....ill need to find the V5 right enough & it still has my parents address on it but my name. Been a bit snowed under with work etc at the mo but if you want to sort out how much a courier would be & let me know how much it is skinning you then we can come to a foccer deal on price of the frame im sure. Actually how does £50 for it sound....thats gotta be pretty cheap hasnt it.......my only basis is that whole fazers can go for £600.....guy at work was trying to say frames are worth a couple hundred quid but im not so sure about that....maybe for bikes that demand good prices See what a courier will skin you first Re: Differences in frames - noggythenog - 30-06-15 Stop the bus ![]() Just spotted this one for £50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS600-FZS-600-FAZER-FRAME-V5-REGISTRATION-DOCUMENT-LOG-BOOK-FWLB-/361317878972 Its a 99 In the interest of this being a club then my new price is........................£40 Cant get fairer than that. Re: Differences in frames - anutz - 30-06-15 thanks Noggy....PM'd you... :b |
