Inlet rubbers required - mark g - 03-06-15 Hi guys, just as I'm knocking one out over my newly acquired 2001 1000 Fazer I've found the first issue, the carb inlet rubber are cracked to shit :'( it's probably only a matter of time before they start to let air in. Where is the best place to buy new ones?, I know with older Honda's Dave Silver was the man, who is the Yam man so to speak? or does anybody know of a good second set for sale?. Lastly, are they they the same as the R1 ?......on a happy note the rest of the bike is sweet :b Re: Inlet rubbers required - devilsyam - 03-06-15 they are 5mm thick and ive never seen a set yet that have failed they come up on ebay from time to time http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carburettor-to-Head-Rubbers-Yamaha-FZS1000-2001-2005-Per-4-/321773436079?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aeb30fcaf Re: Inlet rubbers required - 7omly - 03-06-15 Years ago I owned a Honda CX500E which had perished inlet rubbers. They were bonded to the aluminium flanges. I didn't fancy paying Mr Honda £65 each so I repaired them. I purchased a mountain bike inner tube for around £3 and cut lengths the same size as the rubbers and I stretched them over them. Being paranoid I stretched another one over the first. The bike ran spot on for the remaining two years that I owned it. You also have the remaining inner tube should you need to make another repair. If you cut them neatly they are difficult to spot too. If you're extra paranoid you can glue both ends down with evostick adhesive but I didn't bother. Hope this helps. Re: Inlet rubbers required - mark g - 04-06-15 Cheers guys, I've seen rubber perish before. We have a product at work called sikaflex, it's in a tube and is basically rubber that is used for a multitude of sins, I'll fill the cracks in for now with that just in case and replace them in the winter. Did a search for them on google and Yambits came up with a price of £90 odd for a set, has anybody delt with these guys ? http://yambits.co.uk/fzs1000-fazer-inlet-rubbers-p-54197.html Cheers Re: Inlet rubbers required - RMT1983 - 04-06-15 Id also like to know if anyone has used Yambits..................
