deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - Val - 30-05-15 Hello, I just bought 2003 Foxeye. Aparently there is a gasket on the front sprocket cover. Do I need to change it each time I remove the cover to deep clean the sprocket and the chain? If yes where do you buy cheap ones? cheers Val Re: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - anutz - 30-05-15 Has been some discussions on this in the past - http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,16313.25.html For what its worth mine was in bad shape so i purposely took the remenants off and have not replaced it - but i still wonder if there should be something compressible there.....more for securing the cover as opposed to stopping anything leaking out... I kept an eye on the bolts and i was not sure if sometimes there were a little loose and needed nipping up... :\ but think others have had no issues and not replaced them Re: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - darrsi - 30-05-15 I've never replaced it, bolts have never ever budged either, as long as they're torqued up properly i wouldn't worry about it. Re: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - Fazerider - 30-05-15 No need to replace it, just be aware that the clutch take-up point will be slightly changed so you may want to check the adjustment. Re: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - Paulfzs - 30-05-15 i have no gasket on mine but it leaks oil from there so maybe im different again. Re: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question - Val - 30-05-15 thank you all, I will just throw out the old one and will do some liquid gasket, not that it needs any gasket there anyway ![]() http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ABRO-RTV-SILICONE-GASKET-MAKER-BLUE-HIGH-TEMP-SEALANT-85G-LIKE-HYLOMAR-10AB-/321715674708?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae7bf9e54 |
