Test ride track day advice - darrsi - 16-05-15

Thought i'd ask you lot seeing as i know a few of you like a track day.

Don't have much info at the moment 'cos it's not long happened, but a friend of mine had a test ride on a brand new bike at a proper track and unfortunately has come a cropper on it.

He's a little bit injured, not sure how much yet, but i was wondering, what would be the score about damage to the bike, and him?
Would he just wear his injuries and they worry about the bike?

Any thoughts appreciated?

I don't know anything about who's legal or what, but as you say there are a few here that will know.

I was really just wanting to say I hope your mate's not damaged too much and he mends quickly Smile

Think it was a test day for some brand new Harley.
All i know at the moment is that he's on crutches.

My thoughts on it are if your going on a track you sign a waiver of some description thus he, the rider, is solely responsible for damage, but that form he signed would need to be checked,  dont know how it would work if he was actually 'working' for harley at the time, he'd need to check his 'contract' with them I think also.

The last test ride I did, I had to sign a form to say I was responsible for the 1st £1000 if I were to crash the bike.  Not sure how being on a track will alter that.  It will all be in the form your mate signed before the ride.  I would expect him to be liable for some of the damage at least.

Oh dear, i'll try and find out more later.

Sounds like it was a new electric Harley Davidson he was test riding.

There will be no payback for his injuries like in a road accident, he'd have either signed a waiver or it will be in the small print of the terms of him being on the track, as for the bike I'd make an assumption he'll be liable for a percentage of the bike with or without separate insurance he may have taken

Not confirmed yet but suspected fibula/tibia fracture.
He's not the smallest fella either, he's gonna suffer.  :'(

My mate had a track experience in a car as a birthday prezi and would of been liable for the first £1000 or whatever but paid and extra £20 ( or whatever) to cover that which meant in a crash he was not liable for any, Damage waiver fee is the phrase - maybe your mate did that

Re: Test ride track day advice - darrsi - 17-05-15

Got told last night the front wheel locked up on him and he flew over the handlebars.

When i say he's not a small fella, he's about 6' 4" and gotta be at least 25 stone, it would've been tough to watch.  :look

There hasn't been any mention of an exchange of money.

every time i've been on a H_D test ride they have taken an imprint of my CC and you sign an indemnity form stating the amount of liablity.
looks like this will hurt his wallet more than his t+f.
