replaced rotor sensor..still no speedo? - mr wayneker - 16-05-15

hi guys just replaced rotor sensor and still no speedo.....although the dogs were shoot to sh t
or lugs whatever there called...put back together and still no speedo..took the battery cable off to see if it needed
a ecu reboot but nothing...I thought it surely would be the rotor sensor due to the state of it??????
any ideas???? :'(

Re: replaced rotor sensor..still no speedo? - the cueball - 16-05-15

Could it be the actual sensor that is broke, not the rotor??

also, I fucked up my speedo and clocks about a month ago, the sensor wire had got cut on the brake disc.

I had to solder the 3 wires inside it back together and it worked first time.

so maybe check there is no damage to yours??

Re: replaced rotor sensor..still no speedo? - mr wayneker - 16-05-15

yeah I've checked along the cable right back under the tank to the connecter how likely is it
to be the clocks??

as you can get clocks on ebay for 35-40 quid and up

not sure to be honest... I got another set of clocks too thinking that could be my issue.  :\

is your rev counter, fuel gauge working?

what about your odometer / trip meter??

Yes, ride the thing on the road as it won't show anything till the front wheel is moving as the sensor is on there Smile

Re: replaced rotor sensor..still no speedo? - mr wayneker - 16-05-15

yes every thing else is working fine...cueball

yeah I rode it....sinto

idk....speedo sensor it is then I guess?

Just as an aside I had to replace the Speedo drive on mine this week and was pleased to find you could buy just the bit with the lugs on, didn't need the whole thing. And also there was an update to the part (different plastic and holes around the base for grease to move through)

Re: replaced rotor sensor..still no speedo? - mr wayneker - 18-05-15

yeah I bought and fitted that very same bit on Saturday....still no good

but when out on it last night all of a sudden it came back to life then died of when I put the lights on
so played around a bit..lights on..lights off....then lights off and it steadied for a bit

then noticed when I put the brakes on it spiked??????jumped 5mph every time I put the brakes on??????

so now I don't want to invest in the speedo cable...should I get the electrics checked???

the wiring on my bike gave trouble a couple up near the top of brake pipe mounts. it would make and break and give strange readings. examine the wiring carefully as mine would act up most as i was braking and supension movenment.
