bridgestone bt023 road noise... - Mike01 - 16-05-15
Good morning all!
So i have the above on my 600, only had the bike and my licence a short while.. Anyhow the noise that i can only presume is coming from the front tyre is
very loud, i have checked everything i can and am certain its the tyre (grumbly road noise not squeeks etc). It changes depending on road condition, obviously bad road - louder
I get a low tone rubbing noise when free wheeling the bike out of my garage, was never worried about it as thought its just the pads sat against disc(?)... Wheel has no wobble and spins as it should when raised..
I did a search and the BT021 was well known for this problem but cant find anything about the 23 being the same.
So anyone used these, had issues or think it could be something else.

As you've said probably the front tyre starting to square off. Possibly gone hard due to its age so check the tyre date.
Also check to see if you've lost any wheel balance weights.

They dont look to be squared off but could be old as bike only done just over 9k miles.Will check weights too but dont remember seeing any, i take it they would be the same type used on car tyes, on the rim?

My front is a newish BT023, i have very sensitive hearing but not noticed any noise at all to be honest.

Just checked and mine are only 16 months old, done around 1500 miles. I did 1k of those in 2 months!!
Oh well maybe have a chat with the local bike garage see what they think.

Nope, fairly convinced it's coming from the front though. Could be wrong

Presumably it still makes a noise when the clutch is pulled in?

I will check pressures again, last check was 34f 39r I think. Will check rotation marks too
Yes darrsi clutch in makes no difference.

Nope, checking now. Tyres right way round, both wheels free moving with no wobbles just the front pads kissing the disc slightly.

Bearings feel ok, pushed pulled everything and nothing lose or rubbing.
Cold tyre pressure 31f 39r.... front too low, could that cause it...
