handlebar risers - sinto607276 - 09-05-15

Has anyone done this in the way I'm thinking.....

I don't want just take off the handlebars, put on a 'spacer' bracket then put handlebars back on.

My thoughts on it is unless you get an exact match of the metal, they look ugly Sad

I was thinking along the lines of using the bolts in the yoke, extending them with some sort of extension, thus keeping the shape and original handlebar clamps in situ. I can get stuff machined so that's not the problem, was just wondering your thoughts on it.

The problem with FZS 600 risers is that they are angled back to avoid the fairing, whereas most other bikes have vertical risers & the fairing further forward.

Extenders are one option (and the cheapest), higher Renthal bars the other (Renthal 755's I think are the higher ones).

Vertical risers such as those from a FZS1000 may lead to the bars fouling the fairing on full lock. 

Remember if you go too far you will need to extend the throttle cables/clutch cable/brake lines as well.

Depending on how much higher you need/want them, you might get some mileags out of just loosening your current handlebars and rotating them towards you a little.

Yeah Mick, tried the moving of the bars, there ok, still not 'right' though, just wondered about extending the bolts that ate through the top yoke. I can add a few washers to try out, bit don't think I've got enough space underneath to get it strong enough, that's why I was thinking of getting something fabricated to 'extend' the bolt length Smile

FWIW, Punkstig on here has recommended these a few times (I've never tried them, but they are dirt cheap!):

I know you want to go the other way to keep it all neater, but this is an easier solution and is why most people have done it this way - doesnt mean it cant be done the other way as well though Wink

That's what I've got, aren't they the standard fit? I was looking for raising them, somewhere on the bolts as apposed to the 'normal' risers

Does anyone know the size of the bolts at the bottom of the handlebar risers?
The idea is to get an extension made that screws into the original risers and adds more height that way?

The bolts are M10 but I do not know the pitch.
But it is very likely that it is 1,25 because Japanese engineers like that (in Europe 1,5 or 1,0 is common for M10).

I think I might need to buy a spare one then if it's not normal to give it to my engineering place to see what they can do for me :-)
Other option I have I'd to just put spacing washers on it to raise it, I think there is enough thread still left to give it a good grip Smile

That will not work. There is nearly no thread left. It was quite critical when installed the 2 mm bracket for my 12 V socket today. I used liquid thread lock beause the locking part of the nut had nearly no overlap with the bolt thread....

Think we're talking of different bolts riedrider, I'm talking about the bolts that goes through the yoke, not the ones at the top that hold on the bars themselves. H

We are talking exactly about the same bolts:

Mmm, better have another check on my idea then, so no washer spacers but could get extension done that screws onto original stems then just bolt it up as it is now Smile
Something like this is what I'm thinking.
