What's your cheapest tool in your garage? - sinto607276 - 06-05-15

This cost me absolutely nothing and it's a godsend at keeping my nuts, bolts, washers and the like together when I'm tinkering away on the bike.

It's just a tray from one of those ready meals and so can replace it easily. :lol

Just wondering what do you have that you use that's handy and didn't cost you anything?

You mean to say that you're not supposed to eat that bit.........oh foc......i thought when they said ready meals! :b

Maybe you could have used a pot noodle tub to keep those marbles in that youve clearly lost Wink

Think you've lost the marbles noggy, if you think you should eat that, bet you eat the packaging too thinking that's the best way to recycle?  :lol
And a pot noodle container isn't big enough for the marbles I've lost :lol

Plastic bottle cut in half , makes an excellent funnel , great for changing oil.

Piece of wood 1" square about 14" inch long to prop petrol tank up with, offcut was lying around in the garage and was just the right length.

Old icecream tubs. Hold anything and everything. I've used them to store bolts, catch fuel, anything.

But the cheapest thing in my garage... is me.  :eek

Well someone had to say it!  :lol :lol :lol

Toothbrush, for cleaning the caliper pistons with.  Big Grin

+1 for the toothbrush.

Also, a 15ft piece of string/wheel alignment tool.

Mrs Fazersharp hates it when I do that - she says it makes it taste funny

Yep got one of those, but also a half stage one that gives enough to get under and disconnect tubes / wires before lifting right up pulls everything about too much

Why 15f do you tie it across the street

Re: What's your cheapest tool in your garage? - JoeRock - 07-05-15

Would have to say my Da - seems to be able to fix most problems and just costs me tea  :lol

Re: What's your cheapest tool in your garage? - YamFazFan - 15-05-15

3 lengths of string. 1 tied to each of the battery leads & 1 to the retaining strap & then the other ends to any handy places on the bike to keep them all clear of the holder when removing/replacing battery, thus leaving both hands free to handle the battery Smile.

My automatic garage opener - When it's raining - I send a text when I'm leaving work and hey presto the garage opens when I pull up.....  :lol :lol
Sometimes it costs me though.... :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

When I go to Maccy D's I always grab a handful of wooden drink stirrers. Good for mixing touch up paint, using as packers or applying grease.

Oh and old tennis balls! Cut a cross slit and push it onto bar ends or levers when working on a bike on a lift, stops you poking your eyes out  :eek

Am I taking this too seriously?  Smile

Re: What's your cheapest tool in your garage? - YamFazFan - 24-05-15

I always collect up the lids from tubes of Pringles crisps. They are great for mixing up Araldite or for putting a drip or two of touch-up paint on before applying to car/bike with a modelling brush + it's justification for having eaten the whole lot if you needed the lid for the aforementioned purposes! Wink.
