Anyone changed they're headers/downpipes for aftermarket ones? - Fazer Jim - 28-04-15

II'm looking to change my original headers to a set of stainless ones from Sandy Bike Spares. Only £250. It means junking the Exup system entirely but I'm sure my bike Guru who skimmed the head and did a bit of porting will be able to do a bit of carb set up to help. Anyone used these headers or indeed any other headers? Decent results?

Decent results?  Not on the dyno charts I've seen. Sad

No amount of tuning skill with carbs and intake tweaks will overcome a poorly designed header system.

They're cheap for a reason - avoid.

Sad  Pretty much my gut instinct aswell. The noise from my Exup valve (we all know the famous rattle) is driving me nuts. I might just have to invest in replacement parts. Hopefully I'll be able to disect it soon and fingers crossed some new bushes will do

I wouldn't get rid of the Exup valve on a gen1 as you most likely loose a lot of bottom/mid range power..

Plus the Exup valve on the gen1 makes an aftermarket exhaust silencer sound nice & quiet at low rpm... Wink
