Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - b1k3rdude - 15-04-15 Just saw this on ebay - - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS1000-FZS-1000-FAZER-EXUP-GENUINE-CABLE-SET-/400526529243 Then found this on Venhills website - - http://www.venhill.co.uk/Hoses_&_Cables_-_Motorcycle/YAMAHA/YPVS_POWERVALVE/U01-11-100_UNIVERSAL_EXUP_CABLE_REPAIR_KIT.html Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - sadlonelygit - 15-04-15 am i missing something here. one advert is for a set of GENUINE EXUP cables which will fit straight on with no hassle and give years of service and the other isn't. in the mid ground are the wemoto exup cables at £60. Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - fazed - 15-04-15 Hmm..... best part of 150 pounds for a couple of cables because they have yamaha on them and a pattern part for 10 pounds so 15 sets of pattern parts (just cables after all) for the same money I think bik3rdude has a point.... Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - mtread - 15-04-15 Genuine or not, how on earth can a couple of cables cost £150 ! :eek Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - b1k3rdude - 16-04-15 (15-04-15, 05:39 PM)sadlonelygit link Wrote: am i missing something here.Yes -
Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - mtread - 16-04-15 OK I take it back ............ Genuine or not, how on earth can a couple of cables cost £101 ! :eek Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - b1k3rdude - 17-04-15 Just spoke a nice lady at Venhill and she is going to create a new kit, specially for FZS1000 owners as a permanent fix. The reason I did this was because the kit mentioned in the OP has solderless nipples at one end (these would be used at the servo end) and cast nipples other end (takes the heat at the exup vale end). This type of kit is a 'get you out of trouble, not design as a permanent fix', because the grub screw method isn't the strongest and the cable can pull out of the nipple over time. And because the kit above uses stainless steel which cant be soldered-to, my initial idea of changing the grub-screw nipple for a brass solder-able one would work. So she explained that what I need is a kit that comprises of "A nickel plated steel cable with a cast nipple at one end, and loose brass solder-able nipple at the other". She will be emailing the new product code & web link which I will then post on this forum. The above kit is as strong as the stock cables, because I just repaired an FZS1000 throttle cable with a similar kit and did a pull test. With two pliers and all my strength, it was rock solid. Result. Re: Venhill exup cable repair kit for £10 - FazerFazersson - 01-11-15 I'll take you up on this mate - daily rrider frayed (and slightly squashed) cables, take it Gen 1 is fine?
