Hello all, need info on rear calliper??
I have a 1999 fzs600 and am rebuilding it, got to the rear calliper and pistons are seized solid and the bleed nipples are snapped off as someone has put them in using thread tape.
Is there any point in reconditioning it or would I be better off replacing it? I have heard a rumour that you can replace them with an r6 calliper. Is this true? If so would I need any different mounts or fittings? Please help!!

Just to give you one more option the fzr400rr 3tj brake caliper is exactly the same.

From what you say it would be better to replace it. From what I can remember all the R6s have the calipers above the swinging arm and even if it fitted the brake hose would be at the rear when mounted under the swinging arm.
Simplest and best upgrade is the FZS1000 01 to 05 or the later XJR1300 with the blue or gold spot caliper and is well documented on this forum
Had a quick check on ebay and there is one here, a bit expensive but comes with the hanger already modified

The Fazer 400 and xjr400 will also fit, I cannot say about the FZS400Rr as hybrid says as I never saw one, but they look similar in pictures.

Thank you very much!! yeah I wasn't too sure about it, I did think that the bleed nipple would just leak if replaced so I think you are right I need to replace.

Or here's a nice Fazer Thou rear caliper on ebay.de.
Only 50 euro and exchange rate ain't too bad at the moment.
Some good search terms to throw at ebay.de are: FZS1000 brem hinten in case your German ain't so hot!
Just remember, you'll still need original FZS600 brake hanger bracket, not the FZS1000 one. It will also need a spot of filing to accommodate the caliper body, have a search of past posts on here for more info and pics.

The XJR400 isn't identical the body at the mounting bolts is not quite as thick so it needs shorter mounting bolts but apart from that it's a straight swap
