Lacquer your rear sprocket? - Gav - 05-03-15 I've just bought a new +1 front and a new rear sprocket along with a spanking new gold chain. I'm thinking of masking the outer teeth ring then spray lacquering the middle to prevent corrosion. Is this OCD / waste of time or worth a punt to keep things kinda spangly? Cheers Gav Re: Lacquer your rear sprocket? - fazed - 05-03-15 With the amount of chain lube on my sprockets no need to worry about corrosion.......... Re: Lacquer your rear sprocket? - Gav - 05-03-15 Yeah sod it I'll whip off the rear end tomoz for a lube up... swing arm bearings n linkages etc and sling on the new bits without faff. Cheers Re: Lacquer your rear sprocket? - fazersharp - 05-03-15 Hmmm I wonder if anyone has polished theirs to a mirror finnish Re: Lacquer your rear sprocket? - dazza - 05-03-15 Might make it easier to keep clean though, that's what I first thought you was doing it for. Re: Lacquer your rear sprocket? - Gav - 05-03-15 Decided it was a dumb idea as lacquer would not stick and flake off the new shiny rear sprocket. Maybe I am OCD. Anyway while the rear is off and suspension bearings to be lubed up, I got out an old toothbrush and with some gunk I scrubbed off all traces of oil in and around the back wheel and back of the engine. Which isn't OCD at all. Cough eh hem |
