Light bump during ride - Xander567 - 17-02-15

Hey,

I have a 1998 FZS600 that seems to be in pretty good nick. Recently, i've started to notice a light bump. It seems to coincide with wheels rotation or the chains rotation, but i'm not 100% sure what it is.

The garage that did the service told me the rear wheel has slightly bent, but nothing to worry about and that one of the links in the chain is a bit stiff. None of warranted further attention, but i'd like to get some second opinions and to see if this could be causing the bump as i ride.

It's difficult to describe the feeling other than a bump. It clearly comes from the bike, i can feel it in my ass but not my hands, so my guess is rear of the bike.

Any ideas appreciated. Bike has about 47k miles on the clock, so it getting to the end of it's age is also possible.

Just realised this category is for the new fazers. Could a mod please move it?

Cool,

I'll clean it up this weekend and see what I can do with the chain. I noticed on the ride home that I can feel the bump in the footpegs mostly.

+1

Try slackening the chain off slightly, if it goes away... do as the man above says (then re-adjust it!!).

Definitely a tight link in the chain. I had all the same symptoms that disappeared after changing sprockets and chain.
