lost my lights - tex1507 - 12-02-15 Hi all coming home from luton back upto brum lost my head lights, tail lights, brake lights and instrument back lights On the m1, everything else works fine. Now sat in northampton services waiting for the flat bed to turn up both myself and the Aa guy vhecked the fuses buy still nothing. so does anyone know where I should look next or is it a garage job? Cheers Stu Re: lost my lights - RMT1983 - 12-02-15 Id be checking the fuses, If its a fuse then the petrol station will sell them and you can be on your way! Re: lost my lights - fazersharp - 12-02-15 He has said the AA man has checked the fuses Re: lost my lights - tex1507 - 12-02-15 Basically the AA guy double checked everything I had checked before calling them as I was hoping it was just a fuse...but they are all ok. the only thing different he did to me was put a voltmeter to the brake light switch on the handle bar and say that there was no power goung to it which was when he said it would have to be a truck job. This is the confusing bit. Got no back light on rev counter or speedo but the neutral light, indicator lights oil light all work fine. high beam will work off the pass button but not the rocker switch, bike starts at a touch of the button and stops via the cut of switch, so I do not know what it could be first thought when I pulled over was the fuses but check these out and all ok the only other thought I have is a earth problem or a short somewhere but as I use the bike as my only means of transport can't afford to have it off the road while I try and trace the issue. Re: lost my lights - tex1507 - 12-02-15 Just found out I have lost my horn as well Re: lost my lights - Paulfzs - 12-02-15 does main beam work if you put the lights on and flick main beam switch or only on the passing light? Re: lost my lights - tex1507 - 13-02-15 Only on the passing light. Re: lost my lights - Paulfzs - 13-02-15 and no brake light when using front or rear lever. Re: lost my lights - Doddsie - 13-02-15 Youre litteraly 5 mins up the road. Re: lost my lights - Doddsie - 13-02-15 Dont really know why I told you that!! :rolleyes Re: lost my lights - Andy FZS - 13-02-15 Looking at the wiring diagram on my phone (fzs1000 is the only one on it) the fuse for your head tail and brake lights is the same one. The pass light is a different fuse. The most likely explanation would seem to be that you may not have found the correct fuse or have a poor connection to the fuse. If it was a fault with your light switch your brake light would still work and it was the headlight relay your side lights and brake light would work. So it still looks like a fuse. But I'm not sure what model your bike is and I only have mine on my phone. Good luck. Re: lost my lights - Deefer666 - 13-02-15 You have lost your lighting circuit.... The pass light, indicators, etc works independantly of that circuit I think they are on the accessory circuit. Under the seat is the fuse box, pop it off the frame and flip it upside down and check the wires into it are not chafed or broken. Then lift the tank, nestled near the front you will see a black plastic box, pop the lid and in there are all your electrical connections chances are the problem is here.... Unplug each connection in turn and clean with contact cleaner whilst checking for chafed or broken wires, then follow the wire from that up to the right hand switch gear again checking for any signs of wear. Then remove that switch gear and clean inside thoroughly with contact cleaner. Failing all that, it needs to be looked at in more depth ..... Shame if you in Northampton you were only 20 minutes from me & I would have piggy backed a main live feed from the into the lighting circuit to get you home. Re: lost my lights - tex1507 - 13-02-15 Cheers deefer, Had a look at the connectors under the tank with the AA guy last night and feom what I saw everyrhing looked ok, Will have another look over the weekend failing that it will have to go to the local bike shop. cheers all Stu Re: lost my lights - Punkstig - 13-02-15 /\ deefer knows his shiz, can't remember for the boxeye but on the fox there's another connector block which affects lights under the left hand front fairing, I've had several problems here in the past so another place to check for corrosion! Re: lost my lights - Deefer666 - 13-02-15 Under the LHS fairing infill? I must be getting old and the grey matter going soft...
