1/4 Ignition coil problem - Bondyboy96 - 03-02-15
Hi Guys, so today was the day to start the girl up after re-installing the engine during my cafe racer build
Ignition on, fuel pump primed, neutral light on, press the button, engine turns over but no start. Go to check for spark and there is nothing from cylinder 1/4 (coil plugged in, spark plug grounded on engine, no spark upon pressing the button). Whipped out the multi-meter to check the resistance of the primary and secondary winding coils and plug caps as per haynes manual, to find all the readings are within the ranges specified.
I am still learning all about this, but could there be any other problems or is that a replacement lead/coil?

Can you swap the coil over to cylinders 2/3 to see if the problem persists?

Got hold of two more coils and no difference, my only guess is that it's one of the microswitches ie Sidestand, clutch etc or the relay that controls them, more exploring!

If side stand or clutch switches were faulty the engine would not turn over.
Check the pickup coil is connected and there is 12 volts at the coils.

make sure the side stand is up :lol :lol :lol :lol as i had the same problem only to find out the side stand was down
