Bosch Spark plugs - Ebme Geek - 08-01-15 Has anyone tried Bosch sparkplugs ? Not worried about going for Iridium plugs, standard ones seem to wear well enough, hence ..... I can get Bosch UR2CC Yttrium-enhanced for £3.48 each inc postage, (equivalent to NGK CR8E if I have not cock'd-up, please tell me if I have) as opposed to £4.56 for NGK's, or £4.25 for Denso U24ESR-N http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-Bosch-Super-Spark-Plug-UR2CC-/321478861877?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ad9a22435#ht_1966wt_1199 All good makes, so tempted to give the Bosch a wirl, any opinions welcomed Re: Bosch Spark plugs - darrsi - 08-01-15 Only downside there is if for whatever reason they turn out to be crap then you'll end up replacing them again anyway. I've always stayed with the iridium NGK's because they're totally reliable and long lasting. Can't imagine any improvement with any other brand to be honest and for the sake of pennies is it worth the risk? Re: Bosch Spark plugs - Ebme Geek - 08-01-15 Thanks for the reply Darrsi, I have used Bosch in cars and on the boat engines (V6 inboards) for many years and found they seem to last and perform just as well as the NGK's The boat has proved to be the harshest enviroment, even there I have only ever changed plugs due to other faults like leaking exhaust manifolds (they are water cooled) leading to burnt exhaust valves and susequent damage. Thats another story, they can be bastards at times and had to do a couple of top end rebuids and thats a mare on GM V block in a restricted space. So I have full faith in both brands. So it comes down to availabilty and price. I am in Guernsey and everything is a rip-off over here, the duty on them on an island like this I dont think warrents iridiums, I'd expect to get at least 5 years out of standard ones ... [oh, where's that skin-flint thread :lol ] really it was a question of any experience and whether I have cross referenced right, If I had found the Denso's cheapest I would have gone for them as they are listed in the manual, and I welcome any coments on them for background knowledge, I'm sure I saw someone on here had Nippon Denso's in their bike Re: Bosch Spark plugs - chaz - 08-01-15 I've just bought some NGK CR9EK 4548 for my 05 FZ6 they cost £6.75 each with postage (free) not fitted them yet, by the time I do the bike will have done 39,000 miles on the original set, never missed a beat if you put cheaper ones in and replace them at the recomended mileage then you should be ok, but will you save any money? Re: Bosch Spark plugs - Ebme Geek - 08-01-15 I have just bought the same type for my sons FZ6 S2 from car_parts_international, think i got them for £5.98, we are only changing his as he wants to get a known starting point with his servicing, K&N filters, fluids etc, etc .... Pressy from dad, hell those air filters are not cheap :eek , oh-well done once then he can clean it next time ![]() The NGK's I have in now are fine, minamal wear, and got no intention of changing them as yet, but I have absolutely no idea how old they are, I have had the bike 2.5yrs and would just feel a bit happier if I had a spare set sitting on the shelf if I did start getting ikky starting probs |
