Misfires when wet - emjaydee - 09-11-14 Hi, On Friday afternoon while it was raining I started my 25 minute journey home, it started fine and ran fine for 15 minutes then my bike started misfiring. It seemed to only misfire at low revs. What would likely cause my bike to misfire when it's wet/raining? Water on the HT leads? Water in the tank? Water in the carb? Thanks Re: Misfires when wet - His Dudeness - 10-11-14 It's water getting in under the spark plug caps. The rubber boots are probably past their best. Take the caps off one at a time and dry the insides. Also clear out the drain holes in the cylinder head. Re: Misfires when wet - Deefer666 - 10-11-14 Or the ht leads starting to break down. Re: Misfires when wet - stevierst - 10-11-14 As far as I remember there's a big rubber flap that sort of shrouds the spark plugs. Is that in the right place? As that's what its designed to prevent, Re: Misfires when wet - emjaydee - 10-11-14 Thanks for the advice, guys. I well check all these when I get home tonight. BTW the bike started and ran great coming to work this morning. Re: Misfires when wet - Paul - 13-11-14 Check out the water drain holes on the sides of the cylinder head. Mine cut in wet weather once because one of them was blocked up. |
