Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - An9dy - 28-10-14 Newbie here........ I could not believe it when looking to buy a Gen1 Fazer Thou..... 10 years old and only 1,650 (genuine) miles on the clock! Must be the lowest mileage in the country? HPI clear, MOT certs tracing back with between 10 & 50 miles each year; (then one year the MOT certs suggest that the original owner went crazy and put 500 miles on the clock!). It's in Immaculate, show room condition.....so good I thought I was in a time-warp! I couldn't say no. I've have decided that despite the immaculate condition I won't fall into the 'too good to use' or 'too good to get wet' syndrome; yes I'll keep her well maintained and clean, but she's there to be ridden. - I just need to read up on you guys' advice on suspension settings, I've already raised the pre-load on the (standard) rear shock to 1 notch short of max. But overall I'm really pleased; here's a couple of photos to share with you. ![]() Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - dazza - 28-10-14 Nice find. And now for the question everybody want to ask..... How much ? Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Mick-H - 29-10-14 Fooooookin ellllllllll looks rather nice must be worth £2700 of anybody's money. Enjoy Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Stupid Luke - 29-10-14 What a good find. I like the way the previous owner has fitted a touring screen even though he only toured to the MOT station and back. I bought an original owner 04 with 5k miles last spring and thought that was a lucky find so you have done even better. Like yours, mine was still on the original tyres which werent that good in their day and must be like bakelite now. I would suggest a tyre change before you do too much winter riding. Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - brooker81 - 29-10-14 Bargain at 2700. Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Fazafou - 29-10-14 Hate the idea of bikes sitting unused for that length of time. Seals and oil etc all still deteriorate whether used or not, but that said, that's a bargain and a great find ![]() Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - An9dy - 29-10-14 Yes it was a 'steal'. & yes I'm looking at new rubber in the next few weeks - what do you guys run on yours? Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Mick-H - 30-10-14 Go on then, how much of a steal? Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - nick crisp - 30-10-14 Nice one. Might be looking for similar next year ![]() PR2s for me. Great tyre. Haven't bothered with 3s, as mixed reviews, but when the 2 is hard to come by, might go for PR4s. Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - dickturpin - 30-10-14 PR2s for me too Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - PieEater - 31-10-14 PR2's seem to be popular though I've not tried them. I really like Avon Storms which compared to Bridgestone BT023s give much more confidence in the bends, the rear lasts longer than the Bridgestone by ~9% but I'm not getting as much mileage from the front. Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Krezi - 02-11-14 avoid avons if you can, they seem to be prone to failure http://www.biker.ie/forum/showthread.php?t=216666 pilot roads 3 and 4 are great in wet and cold Paul Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - Krezi - 02-11-14 great find! I bought mine in May and similar story to yours - only 6k miles and I owner... I paid a premium as mine is 1 year younger and wanted black engine... wear well Paul Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - nick crisp - 02-11-14 (02-11-14, 02:01 PM)Krezi link Wrote: and wanted black engine... This is what I'm now thinking too. The black finish seems to be much more durable than the crappy, flaky silver. I think it'd look better with my yellow paintwork too, as has been pointed out by someone else on here (yes, I do take note! :lol ). So thus far, 4 gen 1s, and still not achieved that elusive perfect one for me. although this is the closest to it I've got so far; well, was until I stacked it :rolleyes EDIT: Sorry, for some reason, last time I looked at the OPs post I got it in my head he had a black engine model - I'll blame the codeine :lol All my gen 1s have already had the engine paint starting to go when I've bought them, so I guess it might be possible to keep it looking good if you start with a perfect example. But it seems with the black, it's less effort? Re: Newbie, Fazer Thou time warp - taylor - 02-11-14 nice, top find very lucky. 8) |
