Cleaning B & M Air Filter - old son - 27-10-14

What can I use to clean my B & M filter? The cleaner kits are very expensive, is there something cheaper?

Got to do mine soon,  although mine's a K&N I would imagine the cleansing process is the same.
I'm just going to use a degreaser and a soft brush,  rinse off with water,  then use detergent to get rid of the degreaser residue, then blow out with an air line to dry it out.  A hairdryer would do.  Then give it a light coat of oil.
