DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 18-10-14 Hi guys I ve picked up the above, its a Pacific PHC203. It comes with everything needed but unfortunately no manual. With the DVD on the sound is truly amazing, I want to know if it is possible to have the sound system with the telly alone? Sorry to the admin/mod if this isn't the correct section. Re: DVD home cinema - Punkstig - 18-10-14 There's very little info online about this unit- does it have an optical in? if not it looks like it has audio left right in which will give you stereo sound from the tv if the tv has audio outs or virgin/sky/freeview box but not surround sound. Re: DVD home cinema - mickvp - 18-10-14 a picture of the ports on the back would be handy :thumbup As PS has said, if it has n optical in, or even a HDMI IN and then odds are you will be able to feed the audio through somehow Re: DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 18-10-14 Punkstig yeah that's the problem I'm facing... Ports... Scart, audio left an right Mickvp no HDMI I'm afraid.., At moment I ve got a Samsung LCD telly with miriad of ports... Attached to sky box via HDMI (I could also attach sky box via scart) Re: DVD home cinema - fazersharp - 18-10-14 Just seen your post above so no hdmi If you are like me and only have freeview then the sterio and non surround is no matter as most freeview is 2.1 anyway apart from some HD stuff which is when i get 5.1 from the tv with a hdmi. But even 2.1 from your tv to your speakers is loads better than the crappy speakers you will find in a flat tv If you have left and right then you should be able to use that from player to tv (or is the tvs left and right out only ) Is it bluray Re: DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 18-10-14 Fazersharp I ve got sky but yes I want to use the speakers, not really bothered about surround. Player an TV have audio in/out left/right Re: DVD home cinema - fazersharp - 18-10-14 L and R then, and hopfully you will even get the tv sound not just from two speakers but when the tv on my set up is broadcasting only in 2.1 the sound system divys the sound to all speakers but in sterio only Re: DVD home cinema - midden - 18-10-14 connect sky/freeview box to the home cinema instead of direct to tv. you may need to use both scart and coax then it should be a case of finding the right channel and mode Re: DVD home cinema - darrsi - 19-10-14 Just try out of tv, into player, then to speakers. You'll need to switch the player on to get full effect though. Just to confuse you a bit more, here's a hack you can try to open up the player so that all dvd's can be played, rather than just Region 2 which is what we are in the UK. Once it's done it will play everything, even your bent dvd's from the B&Q car park. ![]() http://www.myreviewer.com/Forums/Hack-Help/t340239/-Help--Pacific-PHC203-Hack-Code-required/page1 Re: DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 19-10-14 Darrsi bent DVD from b&q car park? Why? I ve got a PC with DVD rewriter... I make my own... jokes asides I ve seen the hack an duly applied it. Midden I thought that...not had a lot of time to try... Will report back. [/quote Depending how many scary inputs the Pac;-) ific has you can plug freeview box and sky box or video recorder in to Pacific independently. Video 1 video 2 etc. But as well as the scart output going to tv i've always had to connect coax lead too. I use a 2 in to 1 audio lead to connect phone or laptop for music, mostly iplayer radio pick of the pops Re: DVD home cinema - fazersharp - 19-10-14 By the sound of it because it has no hdmi it sounds like a dvd and not a bluray, depending on the tv size the difference between bluray and dvd is massive, I would say that a 40inch and over tv would be much better with a blueray player and with a blueray player you will get loads of connection options if this sound system has wetted your appetite for sound and vision that is. Re: DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 20-10-14 Fazersharp my samsung tv is only a 32 inch. An the player is dvd an not bluray. Saying that though i ve managed to connect an tune the system to sky box an sounds awesome. I know its not surround but with 6 speaker Re: DVD home cinema - phonesurgeon - 20-10-14 Its better than the piddle sound coming out of telly. So im happy. |
