Did anyone manage to watch the TV prog shown Monday night on BBC NI about the Dunlop boys?
Managed to catch it on BBC iplayer last eve and was very impressed with the documentary narrated by Liam Neeson.
It captured the highs & lows of this amazing racing family-and proved to me that these guys are a separate species compared to mere riders like me!

It was very well made and really gave an insight into the mentality of the riders. Very moving and well worth watching.

Watched it on Monday via free sat
Spent a fair bit of time in the paddock at the TT and 'socialised' a little with Robert and Joey.
Great down to earth blokes who just loved racing bikes.
Sat on the pit wall 2003 with Robert when William was out and asked him which was worse, riding or waiting and he said waiting was the worst.
Never took Micheal as being such a softy

Absolutely fantastic tribute to Robert & Joey plus the boys. Robert was often the unsung hero. On his day he was well capable of beating anyone including Joey. Robert was really unlucky, he suffered horrendous injuries during his career and most were down to bad luck. The wheel imploding on him at the IOM, getting knocked off on many occassions by lesser mortals. Sadly even when he was killed it was down to mechanical failure. Most likely he would have survived that crash as well only for the fact John ? Burns went over him at Mathers cross. I was there that day and thankfully for me I had just walked down towards the Ballysally round about, I am glad I did not see that!!!!
I remember being at the UGP week and Robert had just won the Dundrod 150, 125cc race. I had met up with a group of German bikers on the ferry over. One of the german lads had a £5.00 note and he had Joey's autograpgh on it. While we were in the paddock I got talking to Robert and I was telling him about the German and the £5.00, he says to the German, show me that £5.00, the german lad gets it out and Robert looks at it and laughed, he stuck it in his pocket, the germans face was a picture. Anyway he pulled it out and signed it for him , called the two boys over along with Sam Dunlop and Jim Dunlop and got them all to sign it. You would have thought this German lad had won the lottery.
Robert could be fisty at times all depended on his mood on the day, you can see the same trait in Michael at times as well.
Lets hope the two boys have long and sucessful careers but do know when it IS time to get out and retire. Fantastic talent as Michael is there is a wild side to him, he worries me.
It was a great movie and Laim Nesson did a cracking job.

watched it last night ,very moving indeed that robert was one man who never gave i tell ya ,very hard on the familys i would imagine ,incredible racing talent in that family thats for sure,,long may they continue :thumbup

Just finished watching it, totally gripped. Thought I knew my history but learnt loads......more so about Robert.
Actually shed a tear when Michael won the North West race after his dad's death. Totally moving.
