Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - Frosties - 25-09-14 Hiya fellas, As per title really. Thinking of putting the Tiger to the back of the garage and endulging in my desire for ABS. Chosen the bike below based on its price, spec, reliability and year round rideability as a commuter to London & back - 100 mile round trip. Any thoughts good or bad much appreciated. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/bikes_popup.jsp?photosOn=1&dealerid=23869&did=23869&pageid=2&modelexact=1&make=ANY&model=ANY&min_pr=0&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&keywords=&max_records=50&photo=0&sort=5&dealersearch_full=SEARCH&start=9&distance=0&adcategory=bikes&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=201409237621992 Cheers in advance :thumbup Re: Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - BBROWN1664 - 25-09-14 I have one of these bikes but with considerably less mileage on it. Great bike and very similar to the FZS to ride (which is why I got mine). 54K is high but have a look on the CBF1000 forum. some have quite a few more miles than that on them. The only real weak point seems to be the alternator. Re: Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - stevierst - 25-09-14 A mate of mine had one as a courtesy bike when his cruiser broke down and said it was fantastic. There's a guy at work has one and swears by it for an all year round commuter, BUT there's a lot of ginger on it for a 6 year old bike, even my all year round 12 year old boxeye stood next to it with twice the mileage looked less scruffy. You might need to give some more TLC as a 365 biker. All the reviews look good though. ![]() Re: Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - flesh - 26-09-14 As has been said there are higher mileage CBF's out there but 54k is high, although the price is fair to be honest. There was an '06 in my neck of the woods recently with 7k miles for 3k so unless you are desperate it may be worth shopping around abit Re: Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - lew600fazer - 26-09-14 I had one of these from new for nearly 3 years, very comfy bike and nice to tour on. As said the weak point on them is the stator. They seem to have a problem with that. All in all they are pretty bullet proof and for a run about commuter bike will do you nicely. Ask the question though has it had the modified, flywheel and stator, if not insist they give a warranty on the stator. Checkout www.cbf1000.com you may find a better deal on there but for sure you will get loads of info about the bike. Just had a look on the CBF forum there is one on there 07 plate 26k miles £2500 comes fully faired and panniers+top box bracket, think it is the GT version. It maybe gone as this was late july but you never know, think he was desperate to sell http://www.cbf1000.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=17292.0;attach=11504 Re: Would You Buy This (54Kmiles) - Frosties - 26-09-14 Cheers for all the info fellas, much appreciated. So in essence a good choice for a 365 bike, but watch out for the alternator. Good info re the modified stator and wheel Lew...cheers for that. Good feedback BBrown, ta! Will have a look around as it seems that better can be had for similar money. Thanks again. |
