had an accident on my way to work this morning - solorider - 19-09-14 I was filtering past very slow moving traffic when a cage decides to do a u turn, anyway he hit my left foot and ankle, luckily I did manage to keep the bike upright, he did say he saw me coming but didn't have the sense to think I wouldn't be that long, luckily I have not broke any bones just a crush injury, my foot and knee is very swollen. The police or ambulance service have managed to lose my keys doesn't help. The damage to my bike is a left foot rest hanger, foot rest and gearlevee, there maybe some small damage to where the footrest hanger bikts to the frame. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - locksmith - 19-09-14 Glad your OK(ish). First thoughts about the key, has some scrote pocketed them pretending to help and coming back later if the bike is left there? Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - bigralphie - 19-09-14 Get well soon mush ![]() Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - Punkstig - 19-09-14 The amount of twat head drivers I have do similar things and their response is ' I saw you' And what? Decided fuck you I'll do my manouvre anyway!? Stupid arrogant arseholes, absolutely enrages me that drivers think this way! Glad you're Ok though bud! Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - fazersharp - 19-09-14 Maybe you were going faster than he would of been expecting. Quote "he did say he saw me coming but didn't have the sense to think I wouldn't be that long" Glad that you are not too bad, its just that whenever I filter I will only go perhaps 5 mph faster than the traffic, I am happy with that as I am still going faster than them as I am allways scared of what has happend to you. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - solorider - 19-09-14 Thankfully the police had the keys, they returned them to me this afternoon. As to speed the traffic was at walking speed, I was doing 25mph max as there was cars coming in my direction so was preparing to move to my left and match the road speed and I was well over so I wasn't close to the cars at the time of the accident, the road speed limit is 40mph. Annoyingly bennets will only recover my bike if they take it back to Surrey which is a long way from Swindon and another way to not see my bike again, but at the moment it is on the path near to where the accident occurred so I'm hoping no one has taken the bike. Glad you're (more or less) ok. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - Rikki - 20-09-14 If it was nearby & rideable I would move it for you but Swindon is a bit out of my way I'm afraid! Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - stevierst - 20-09-14 As the driver has admitted liability, shouldn't he cover the cost of recovery? One thing is for certain, you need to get it shifted pronto before someone else does. I had a mkII escort as my first car, and yep I crashed it into the back of another car within a couple of weeks. I parked it up on a forecourt in Farnborough to collect it next day. Went back and it had gone. It was found in London a week later a bit crispy! Just glad your ok bud, and hope you get back in the saddle soon. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - bri h - 20-09-14 On the plus side if they take your bike to surry it's probably the repair place in egham. They done a great job repairing mine. Glad you're not hurt badly. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - solorider - 20-09-14 Went to pick my bike up today ( well the wife did) and some arseole has stole the topbox, they cut the arms to remove the topbox. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - esetest - 20-09-14 Sorry to hear about your accident , glad your ok , there are some thieving scrotes about . Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - fazer390 - 21-09-14 Hay solorider; just saw your post. I live near Bassett and pass where you had your accident every day on the way to work. I saw your bike in the layby and didn't think much of it until I saw this post! You may have already got it sorted now, but if you need a hand with anything give me a shout... Also Steve Lynham is literally just around the corner by the crematorium; he could collect your bike and fix it for you. Or I have some contacts regarding sourcing parts and I can give you a hand fixing it if you're stuck... Jase... ![]() Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - solorider - 22-09-14 I am even more angry, when the scum cut the rack they also cut into the seat cowl so I have to get a replacement one of those as well Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - BBROWN1664 - 22-09-14 Solo, add it to the insurance claim. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - ogri48 - 23-09-14 Glad your ok mateok mate Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - solorider - 25-09-14 sent the picture of my bike to the insurance company and they phoned me back and say it is a cat D write off, they must be down valuing my bike a lot. Re: had an accident on my way to work this morning - BBROWN1664 - 25-09-14 The damage you mentioned in the first post is probably heading towards £1000 at dealer rates. Add in the top box, brackets and rear cowling and your in the £1500-2000 category. I would suggest over 50% of the value of the bike now so makes it uneconomical for them. Buy it back and fix it up yourself.
