17T front sprocket - woodwizzard - 29-08-14 Anyone run a 17 tooth front sprocket? Just done 640 odd miles, mostly motorway and I feel just over 5000rpm at 80mph is a little revy for my liking. Mpg was between 47 and 50 so happy with that, but lower revs should improve this further. Will my speedo over read or under read? Re: 17T front sprocket - slimwilly - 30-08-14 I think the Gen 2s run a 17 standard, is there room around the sprocket for a bigger one? Re: 17T front sprocket - woodwizzard - 30-08-14 Starting to wonder that myself. Have just removed the cover and it looks tight in there for a 17. Thought I had seen it mentioned on here that it was possible. Thought dazza had done it at some point. May be wrong though. Re: 17T front sprocket - dazza - 30-08-14 Yes, I have run a 17 tooth sprocket for a while. You won't get it on unless you take the steel guide off first. I didn't bother re-fitting it as I only intended to run it like that for a little while. As for the speedo, you will find it under reads but is more or less a true speed reading as it read the same as the sat nav. Re: 17T front sprocket - woodwizzard - 30-08-14 What steel guide is that then? Re: 17T front sprocket - dazza - 30-08-14 The one that stops it going on. :lol You will see it when you try to fit it. It's only two allen bolts holding it on and you can refit it once you have the sprocket on. Re: 17T front sprocket - woodwizzard - 30-08-14 OH, the one that stops it going on, why didn't you say so :lol Couldn't see anything obvious under the cover. Looks like I will need to get a 36mm socket as well. Re: 17T front sprocket - woodwizzard - 08-09-14 Loses all its low down sparkle for everyday riding with the 17 on, but will be nicer on the motorway runs. No hassle swapping over every now and again. |
