dust seal - midden - 31-07-14 Having fitted a new dust seal in rear caliper I couldn't get the piston back in. It's as if the seal is too thick as the piston just wanted to push the seal out of it's seating. I've ended up putting the original back in ![]() Has anyone else ever had this problem. Re: dust seal - Dead Eye - 01-08-14 Haven't had the same issue, mine seemed to do in ok - have you tried putting the piston in the freezer and using some brake fluid as a lubricant? Re: dust seal - midden - 01-08-14 used fluid but not the freezer bit..... Got them from yambits so not originals. Lesson learned I think ![]() Re: dust seal - darrsi - 01-08-14 I thought red rubber grease was the preferred lube for seals, and a safer option as well, you don't really want to be fumbling about with brake fluid getting everywhere. Re: dust seal - Deefer666 - 01-08-14 Make sure that the groove that the seal sits in is completely free of dirt and corrosion (I use a dentist probe to clean it out) and then red rubber grease on the seal and get it sat flush. then put the piston back in but it must got back in totally straight otherwise it'll pull the seal back out. |
