Insurers taking the piss (again!) - Grahamm - 19-07-14 Ho hum, here we go again with Bike Insurers (Bennetts) extracting the urine: Last year's premium £86.28 - this year's renewal premium £166.76!!! Phone them up, "Oh yes, I'm sure we can do something about that..." Lo and behold, suddenly this year's premium drops to £64! How many suckers let their renewal go through on the nod? Kerching! :rolleyes Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - dickturpin - 19-07-14 Also check they haven't snook in an increase in excess!! Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - esetest - 19-07-14 I had exactly the same scenario . To be honest I've never really had an issue with insurers doing this - it's pretty much common knowledge now that it's best to shop around every year! Oh yeah, I found I had "volunteered" for a £50 excess. No I bloody didn't, so take the damn thing off again! (A year or two ago they tried to change my RAC cover from UK only to Europewide!) Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - dickturpin - 20-07-14 Exactly what they did to me Graham....before I cancelled with them following dirty tricks last year. Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - Janet - 24-07-14 My renewal (I'm with Carole Nash as I need Europe-wide breakdown cover) was only about £15 more, but the excess had doubled to £800!! It's hardly comprehensive cover at all when the excess is so high. I compared the meerkat to get some numbers then phoned them. I said that I was most worried about the excess, but a few quid off would be nice too. They dropped the price by £16, which is over 10% and a whole pound less than last year, but they also dropped the excess to £350. This was done by switching insurer. I'm now happy with what I've got. I do get fed up, like everybody else, of having to make the inevitable phone call every year though. Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - Dave48 - 24-07-14 I await my renewal notice with interest! It is a crazy situation where they can hike up excesses & premiums regardless of driving history but I have come to accept that, like banks, theyre not in business for my benefit. They rely on us being too busy/lazy to explore other options(inertia) & I wonder how much of my premium goes to pay for the damage caused by uninsured/reckless drivers & the other insurance scammers? Re: Insurers taking the piss (again!) - DILLIGAFF - 25-07-14 Home contents ins. due so I "Meerkated" some quotes. Swindletons comes on the phone and says can we renew your premium which was £31 last year at £ 140 this year. NO, FOC off says I Ah well we can reduce that to £50 then. Click. |
