Powering a Pump - Keithmusician - 17-07-14

So we're off on our hols soon, Fazer 600, partner on the back and the tent stowed just behind her. She has decided she wants an air bed for added sleeping comfort this year, which seems fair enough, and we have a 12v pump rated at 100w so round about 8A. Here's a question if I snip off the cigarette lighter plug and replace with crocodile clips will I be ok running it off the battery, engine running of course. All answers and opinions gratefully received. Ta.........Keith

no probs i know for hundreds of people that do that at bike rallies

Should be ok, I use a similiar pump from my cars cig lighter and it blows up a double air bed in minutes. It takes longer to deflate it and roll it back up!

Why not just spend £3 on a lighter socket from ebay

Agree, they are useful on the bike anyway so a good mod to put on for so cheap.

No cutting or fitting required, best of both worlds.

For boats, airbeds etc use the exaust,,cool of course,,make an adaptor then start it up,,be careful or the airbed will fuck off into the next field :lol
