Fazer newbie - SkydiveRob - 29-06-14

Hi all, my first time on the forum and I am about to jump ship from a CBR600 to a 2009 Fazer 1000; am I doing the right thing? Is the Fazer a reliable beast and is there anything I should check before I part with dosh. Bikes done 6500 miles

Hello and welcome,,

there are a growing number of Fazer Gen11 riders on here, it was an original Fazer Gen1  forum but its been 8 years since the last Gen 1 was registered so the Gen 11 is becoming more common.

I have one, i ordered it without seeing it,,i love it, take a few weeks to adjust to the riding position,,,and it will grow on you,,sat up, good position for observation,, the higher revs will pull your arms off. Smile

Stonking engine,,few problems,,alot have had mods done to improve them,

One of the worst is fuelling being cut off when closed throttle,,so when turning throttle back on coming out of a corner it snatches,,quite alot,,i have not altered mine yet, i just ride around the problem.

later models may not be so bad though.

I have just put some renthal bars on mine, higher than standard and turned back a bit,,i like it.

I am just making a touring seat pad as i now find the seat tips a bit much forward and narrows,,ok for a bit of fun riding but not 3 days of 300 miles each day.

Hope you like yours,,and get some pics up.

Greetings skydiverod, and welcome to the foc-ers!

Gen 2, great bike for thrashing about on. Basically a comfy detuned R1 with flat bars. You can mod them back to full power , and make them handle as good as the best out there.

There's very few faults with these bikes, snatchy throttle is probably the worst, but you soon get used to it. Fuel consumption is a bit naff (36-45 UK mpg). And you get about 120 miles to the flashing light.

Not a bike I'd choose for touring, more like a sensible persons sports bike. Either way, you can't go wrong! Enjoy.

Thanks guys; just paid for it and collecting on Sunday.  Can't wait and feeling like an excited child at Christmas.  The bloke selling it says if he was going to keep it, he would change the original end can for a scorpion; should I consider this or is it alright left alone?  Will put some pictures up next week.

I have not seen any with the origial can on,,nicknamed a "Dyson" i believe,,does look rather odd.

I have a Blue flame stubby on,,with baffle in,,it is almost unbearable out,,did a trip to Italy last year,,gets in my head a bit :lol
