Pilot Jets - humbucker88 - 11-06-14 A couple of my pilot jets are gummed up, whats the best way to clean them? Been spraying carb cleaner through them to no avail, and don't have access to a sonicator. Would a very thin wire damage them? (no idea where i'd get one though, thing guitar string possibly?) Re: Pilot Jets - papercutout - 11-06-14 Leave them to soak overnight in something - carb cleaner, parafin, break cleaner - that sort of thing. Then in the morning try using something softer like a tooth pick if they are still gummed up.. Re: Pilot Jets - Fazerider - 11-06-14 It's generally best to use something that is softer than the brass to avoid enlarging the jets. It depends on the diameter of the holes, but nylon toothbrush bristles or monofilament fishing line might be possibilities you have around. Re: Pilot Jets - humbucker88 - 11-06-14 Should have checked back here before going ahead really, used a .13 guitar string, worked a treat although it's probably not ideal that it was metal but hey ho, the bike runs on all 4 cylinders now, woo! She's purring like a...well....drunk hobo but still she idles! |
