Looks like goodbye FZ1 - locksmith - 01-06-14 Well, been out for two good rides on the new MT-09 and it's stonking, so it looks like the FZ1 Fazer can go! Never ever thought I'd wanting to be Fazerless but they are called FZ09 across the pond so it's almost a Fazer ![]() Will have to dig it out of the back of the garage and take some pics for selling purposes so if you fancy an 09 Gen2 Fazer, watch this space! Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - mr self destruct - 01-06-14 I test rode one a few months ago, now I'm waiting for them to stick a fairing on it, then it's on my shopping list. ![]() Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - noggythenog - 01-06-14 Me again Locksmith ![]() But the FZ does feel heavy up front......but that keeps the front wheel down so when flying it is stable at least i suppose......but im used to the light end of a naked 600 FZS in corners & it is so easy to not run wide on in a corner on the 600 whereas on the thou if i dont get it right i feel it is trying to fire me into the grass. Soooooo..........what's the main advantage of the MT......im guessing it's the corners.......or does it out grunt the FZ on overtakes too?....single gear comparison though not changing gears mid overtake.? Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - locksmith - 01-06-14 It's much lighter and more rideable in normal road situations. Definitely corners faster and tighter than the FZ but as it's a kilo lighter than an R6 it should! Using 4th a lot, as soon as you breathe on the throttle it takes off. I found myself going for far more overtakes and the engine braking is noticeably more than the FZ1 so you don't find your self changing up or down on the majority of single carriageway overtakes. Again today I thought the speedo was in km and not mph :o Regarding the throttle, yes several times I'm lurching a bit on bumpy roads and having to think about my throttle control due to the on/off nature, but chucking it in B mode and it's much more FZ1 like, smoother roll on/offs but you soon miss the rush of the instant throttle and its back to std mode. Haven't tried the race track like A mode yet ![]() Still running in so haven't really given it full chat yet but the power seems constant up to the ton. Of course it's not going to go ballistic like the Fazer once you hit 7K but your far too busy dealing with the torque rush to worry about that :lol Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing the Gen2 off, after all I've had one since 2007 (two actually) and loved every mile but it's time for a change. Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - locksmith - 03-06-14 Made the decision she's up for sale ![]() http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,13433.0.html Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - stevierst - 03-06-14 Please don't do this to me, just been back to Raceways and seen one there for less than 7k! :'(:'( I'm so tempted to get one, but been out on the fz1 for the past couple of days and I just keep Re-kindling my love for the old girl! I think I'd miss the top end rush of the fz, and the bottom end stomp of the mt can't replace it. Ridden the mt a couple of times now, and it is definately one hell of a bike, but not sure if it's an Fz1 replacement yet. Re: Looks like goodbye FZ1 - locksmith - 04-06-14 What a dilemma :lol |
