Germany Calling - dBfazer600 - 31-05-14

This time next week I will be on a ferry heading to Europe destination Germany. I will be staying over night in Cochem Then heading out for 3 nights in Nagold.

Only road that is a definate is the B500 in the heart of the Black forest and if I fancy it the Nurburgring on the way back home on my trusty 03 FZS600.

Are their any locations any of you would recommend that are in a days ride out from Nagold?

I'll be a day ahead of you Daz, I'm on the ferry from Newcastle on Friday night next week, will be stopping a night in Trier (just because I can, and I like it there) before heading down the B500 on the Sunday, to stop with a mate in Ulm. Then into Austria & the alps for a week - bring it on  Big Grin Big Grin

Bear in mind that the Germans are sticklers for the speed limit.
If your in a 70 limit and it goes down to 50, we would ease off the gas but the Germans will slam on their brakes, especially on the motorways.

Re: Germany Calling - River Valley - 01-06-14

I live a few miles upstream from Cochem. If you've not been to the Mosel before, you're in for a treat. The roads around here are fantastic for biking. Few  pointers for your trip:

- don't know what route you're taking to Cochem, but recommend you include the 258/257 in the Eifel National Park from Monschau/Schleiden/Blankenheim/Nurburg/Ulmen to Cochem.

- once you get to Nagold, consider a trip into the Voges, over the border in France. Lovely area and some cracking roads.

- in general, be very careful with German drivers on twisty routes, as they often cut the bends (even when something is coming) and rarely indicate when they are turning off.

Enjoy. If you need any specific info on our area, just ask.

Re: Germany Calling - Millietant - 01-06-14

Baden Baden to Freudenstadt is an awesome ride, but keeping on going and cutting across to Wolfach, then down to Triberg, Furtwangen and on to Titisee is a fantastic route.

Along the route, make sure you stop over either in the Dottelbache Muhle (in Bad Petersal-Griesbach) or the Hotel Inselklause just south of Triberg, on the side of the D500, near Schonwald.

These are two brilliant Black Forest hotels, with fabulous restaurants & food - proper traditional German food - but also, park in Triberg and take a walk to the top of the waterfall - we have nothing like it in the UK.

Google the hotels and the waterfall - fabulous places  Smile

Cheers guys will be looking into all your info. There as been talk that we may go threw Denmark on our way to Cochem but will look at your recomendation River Valley.

I have not been able to hook up with the rest of the lads to sort a rout so it sounds like we are going to chose what we want on the way down. I have put in some rest days so the lads can do what they want but France is calling me personally and was considering Baden and then into France from Nagold.

Rich hope you enjoy your tour to ya mates.

Thanks to ya all
