Alloy Wheel Cleaner - bigbluebear - 28-05-14

Anyone out there know the best way to get rid of yellow staining from alloy wheels....I've tried various allow wheel cleaner shite that doesn't work.

My neighbour suggested Autosol but I think that's overkill

in terms of wheel cleaner, Autosmart Smart wheels is one of the best on the market.

You might also want to consider a fallout remover too to remove heavy iron deposits and contamination, something like carpro Iron X or similar.

heres how good it works, when I last took my alloys off to do the insides:

After another Hit:

Heres some Iron X applied and working away (its clear to apply, but turns purple when it comes into contact with the ferrite in the iron filings from brake dust etc):

heres the finished wheel just needing the stickers from old wheel weights removed, then sealed:

so aye, I would say that combo works well Wink

That looks all and well Mick and takes away a lot of dried in brake dust and crud.....what about the yellow staining that you get on the outside of the alloy.....I'll try and get a picture later

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - mickvp - 29-05-14

thats the stuff mate Smile

I wouldnt buy autosmart stuff from ebay though, read many reports of sellers watering stuff down. better buying a full sealed 5L from somewhere like this:

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/autosmart-smart-wheels-acid-free-wheel-cleaner-5-litres.php

if you enter the code DW you will get a discount too (I think its either 5, or 10%) Wink.

Remember that Smartwheels does get diluted as well, dont use it neat as its both a waste of product and far too harsh Smile

BBB, I know the yellowing you mean, this combo should shift that as well (although ill await a pic, but im pretty sure its just fine braked on brake dust your talking about).

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - mickvp - 29-05-14

aha! I knew I had more pics. do you mean yellowing sort of like this bbb (sometimes it looks a lot more yellow than this too):

A bit of Iron X soon sorts that out:

rinsed:

the other possibility, if it is a different sort of yellowing, is that the wheels have clearcoat on and its oxidized, meaning the wheels will need polishing/repainting to sort it out.
