Westminster Parking - Streetbudgie - 15-05-14 Need to go to Harley street for a consultation later this month and all the parking has changed since the last time I parked in Westminster. Can anyone explain how I pay by phone in a bike bay? If they're free then you'll probably have to get there at 4am to squeeze a bike in. :\ Re: Westminster Parking - Frosties - 16-05-14 (16-05-14, 01:45 AM)midden link Wrote: Are motorcycle bays at side of road chargeable :eek I'm told by a work colleague that the carpark behind Admiralty arch has free bike bays. Or just pay a quid tight arse :lol Re: Westminster Parking - Punkstig - 16-05-14 (16-05-14, 01:45 AM)midden link Wrote: Are motorcycle bays at side of road chargeable In Westminster they are, yes. There's a pretty large bike bay in Cavendish square at the south end of Harley street. All bike bays get full pretty early so don't expect to get a space if you go in the afternoon. Re: Westminster Parking - midden - 16-05-14 Got me reading up on it and it seems they started charging for on road bays after the congestion charge increased amount of bike traffic. So really it's just a stealth way of getting bikes paying a congestion charge and just to highlight it they don't charge electric motorbikes. http://www.parkingforbikes.com/boroughs/boroughs/westminster Re: Westminster Parking - alan sherman - 16-05-14 I park in the QPark Harley street car park. it is free. Don't tell anyone else though as I don't want it to fill up! http://www.q-park.co.uk/parking/parkingid/1956 Barrier controlled access. Ride up to the notice with the two IR beams for the gate to go up. You should use the pedestrian access to get in and out. Press the button to get the lady to let you back in. Go out the car exit as it has a pressure pad in the floor to open the rollergate to exit. If you see a silver boxeye with a high level pipe its mine. If not then I cycled in that day! Re: Westminster Parking - Streetbudgie - 16-05-14 Thank Alan, I'm a one day visitor so won't be a regular Customer! I have no problem with paying the £1 for a bike bay but I don't understand how you pay it as it seems that you have to open an account and pay by text, I've read the Gov site but that's as clear as mud and I don't fancy giving my account details to them. Free parking and short walk seems more like it! Re: Westminster Parking - alan sherman - 16-05-14 The bike bays are £1.50 a day now I think. You call a number and enter your reg and credit card details. They try and sell you a longer term one. I stick to a day one as the transaction cost is more than than they get in revenue! Re: Westminster Parking - alan sherman - 16-05-14 Just saw this: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/thats-a-new-way-to-park-car-mounts-group-of-motorbikes-in-central-london-9384845.html Re: Westminster Parking - updated Thanks Alan - Streetbudgie - 23-05-14 Hi Alan, Thanks for the tip, the Qpark was ideal and access exactly as you said, ta :thumbup On another note it is now official that I am a bit deaf. Also note that the other London boroughs in the CC zone do not charge bikes parking. Re: Westminster Parking - Farjo - 25-05-14 Also, by law all CC revenue must be spent on public transport (something like 95% goes on busses) whereas the Westminster charge will just go into their coffers.
