Help needed please - Gawin85 - 04-05-14 Hi guys and girls I've been out on my 2002 fzs600 today and had a strange problem After completing 30 odd miles of my journey, the bike cut out, after I let the bike cool down it fired up again, I rode off and after 6 more miles the same happened again. This happened a few more times until I got home (around 30 more miles) After letting the bike cool down, I checked coolant and radiator water levels and they're both fine. Oil level is good and normal colouring and the bike fired straight away. On feeling the headers I noticed number 3 was getting warmer at a slower rate to the others but taking the bike up and down the road a few times everything seemed fine. Was wondering if anybody has had anything similar happen or has any ideas as to what the problem might be? Re: Help needed please - Millietant - 05-05-14 Could be a blocked breather hole in the petrol tank filler cap - sounds like it might be fuel starvation - when petrol drains out of the tank (at a faster rate than air can get back in) after up to about 10 miles of riding, the little vacuum that forms in the tank will stop any more petrol from flowing out until the pressure equalises in the tank (usually after 5-10 minutes rest). Its a common thing on a load of bikes - not had it on our Fazer's, but had it on a couple of Honda's and a Kawasaki. Re: Help needed please - Gawin85 - 05-05-14 Brilliant advice thank you, I'll have a look at that Re: Help needed please - robby boy - 05-05-14 Has your tank been lifted lately, I have seen written somewhere the breather pipe under it can get kinked and do the same sort of thing, try a run out until it stops open the filler cap and see if it starts straight away, I had this on the CB500 I did my DAS on, I ended up opening the tank every time we stopped for a chat, got me back to the instructors base. HTH. Re: Help needed please - Fazer Forever - 05-05-14 If you've lifted the tank recently the breather pipes get lifted with it, then when you drop the tank back down the pipes get kinked and nipped shut. I use some long nosed pliers to give them a pull to make sure they're fully extended. My tank used to visibly expand when opening the filler cap before I understood the problem. Re: Help needed please - dcurzon - 05-05-14 There's 2 'breathers' under the tank, on the rhs. I believe one is air breather and the other maybe girl overflow? Anyone know which is which? Had an almighty vacuum on my fuel cap when I used the bike t'other day Re: Help needed please - dcurzon - 05-05-14 Girl overflow??? Damned autocorrect! Lol! *fuel overflow Re: Help needed please - wickedmonkey - 08-05-14 (05-05-14, 07:14 PM)dcurzon link Wrote: Girl overflow??? Damned autocorrect! Lol! Damn, girl overflow is so annoying...
