Single day bike insurance. - noggythenog - 28-04-14

Anyone got any reliable contacts for single day bike insurance please???

Im going round in circles....i just need insured to pick up my Thou so only 1 day until i store it & get storage only insurance.

My current policy is only third party..they dont do single day, wont let me add a bike for the remainder of policy.

Mcn has a link...when you go on it there are no bike options....ive been passed around on the phone to no avail.

Every site i look on only offers car or van.

Has something happened recently...perhaps track days have something to do with it but i doubt that........will jeremy beadle pop out from the dead with a film crew. :\

I mean how the foc does anyone legally pick a bike up these days......traders are of course insured for any bike but surely i aint the only person that just needed insured to pick a bike up.

Nowts easy is it, i is a grumpy nog Sad Sad Sad

If you wanted to be a bit unscrupulous about it - you could always take out a full year policy, then cancel it within your cooling off period for a full refund. Wouldnt be the first time ive heard that being done Wink

Re: Single day bike insurance. - red98 - 28-04-14

Thats why ive got a trailer nog.....shame your not a bit closer  :\

Re: Single day bike insurance. - noggythenog - 28-04-14

Cheers Mick

I tried that place earlier but when you click the bike it then goes to another screen without the bike as an option in the drop down....bastardos!....i got a msg on their chat thing but looks like nobody is home Sad

& i know what you mean...in a roundabout way my insurance girl kinda said i could do that......but with them id get a £25 cancellation charge...so ye £25 for the day in a roundabout way......but its a shame they force me to consider that when im trying to be straight up about it all.

Im tempted to just get insured on the father in laws 4x4 and erect my bike trailer but then thats a 4x4 all way to Madchesta with a trailer Sad ...no thou ride home Sad .......plus in a crash on the trailer it still wont be insured.

That's a whole lot of  Sad Sad Sad

The more  Sad Sad Sad  I experience.......the more i know that saying foc it........gimme 1 years fully comp on the thou & just forget about my mot & brand new pilot 3 tyres on noggyfighter & get some more foccin  Smile Smile Smile  (Crazy foccin frog sound effect in background)

Re: Single day bike insurance. - noggythenog - 28-04-14

PS

I didnt really mean that about crazy frog.

& cheers Red...i know you'd do it if we were closer n stuff...& i kinda have the means but i just cant believe how hard it is to get a days insurance....somethings defo happened ref bikes......i did the same trip years back in a MGB GT and i got the insurance in about 5 minutes....it was simple.

I doubt it on a Thursday & id rather not call in favours but i do know something.....a nice tasty fastest colour thou will be in my shed Thursday night.

I should just not bother with insurance...it'll be so fast even the speed cameras will register negative speeds eh Red Wink ........plus if i quite correctly claim that i am a foccin dafty & dont know nuffin then i'll get away with it.......well officer my mate dave said that if i had Pet Insurance then i'd be covered as long as i had my dog as pillion :lol

Re: Single day bike insurance. - mickvp - 28-04-14

just swap the insurance from the noggyfighter to the thou and have at it mate. Lets be honest, after riding it home - you WILL want to do that anyway! :lol

Re: Single day bike insurance. - CRH - 28-04-14

Hey Clive...let it not be said that you are not wise...it is by far the best idea.....i even have a ramp.......but the bike aint got a centre stand & i wouldnt have a clue how to strop it down & im in the sticks with limited van suppliers so id get a van & get there and find it didnt have any strop mounting points or somethin...i can just see it :lol .......besides the van would be full o sheep half the way up so how much space for bikes dies that leave eh :b

Maybe i should just buy a cheap Peugeot 106 coz i heard they are good for carrying bikes

Re: Single day bike insurance. - JoeRock - 29-04-14

Check your policy, and specifically the wording of the "riding other bikes" section.

Whilst most require the other persons bike to have insurance on it to cover you, I've had a couple before that don't!

Then all you need to do is go pick the bike up, leave a bunch of cash equal to the value "test ride" it to wales, and you're done!

They also tend to state "not belonging to you" which means as soon as you buy it, that cover doesn't exist.

Hire a van and get some ratchet straps seems to be the best option at the moment.
