Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - apage16 - 15-04-14 Hey Foccers! So I've made the move to europe, and I want to keep my Fazer (naturally). But I have to change a few parts to make it legal. The obvious one being the headlight. So my question is, does anybody know how the Euro Spec FZS600 headlight is wired up? Is it still the goofy H1 for dip, H4 for main? I'm sure I saw somebody mention that its the other way so the H1 only comes on for main (which makes SO much more sense!) Just hoping for some confirmation. I have to re-wire the whole thing anyway because I fitted the HID projectors didn't I!? In other news, a set of projectors will be going begging soon!! :lol Thanks Folks! Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - ChristoT - 15-04-14 I'll take the projectors if they're going cheap! ![]() Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - unfazed - 15-04-14 Plug it in and see what happens, you won't blow it up :lol If it does not work swap over the connectors. Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - elbrownos - 15-04-14 Your headlights will be pointing the wrong way. Mine's a German import so I need bits of black tape on the lights to make it legal for UK, presumably you will need the same. Re: Headlight question, with a difference! I know what'll happen if I plug it in, it'll work like a UK headlight unit! I want to know if the Euro lights are wired differently at the switches! :rolleyes Re: Headlight question, with a difference! I don't want to block off any more of the non existent light that already DOESN'T come out of our headlights! So I'm fitting a European headlight. On your bike, when on dipped beam, does it turn on the left hand ( as you're sitting on the bike) H1 bulb, or the Right hand H4? I suppose it's worth checking, is your headlight wiring modified to be in line with the UK setup? Cheers. Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - elbrownos - 16-04-14 There's a photo of my headlight tape on this page: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,9266.msg92799.html#msg92799 It doesn't make any noticeable difference to the brightness. Regarding the other question, I have no idea what you're talking about. My foxeye has H4 bulbs left and right. Dipped or high beam, they are always both on. I think the previous owner modified it though because he said something about unplugging one of them before getting an MOT. I've never bothered and it hasn't mattered. Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - apage16 - 16-04-14 Ah, I see. Apples and Pears then, it seems. I have a Boxeye. So your lights are already better than mine! I think I'll just have to power them up and see. I reckon the beam pattern will tell a pretty conclusive story. I just like to have an idea before I get the tools out! Forewarned is forearmed! Cheers. Re: Headlight question, with a difference! What is Euro Spec?... - purplebear7 - 16-04-14 :\ The tape over a section of the light unit idea will NOT do if you are going all the way legal in Europe! It just might get you off a hook if you are stopped by the police while on 'holiday' .. but these days nothing is for sure .. they all want your money! :'( If you are importing a bike you have to have the EU Spec light units that are fitted to Bikes sold within that country. The Part Numbers are different to the UK Spec units .. and the dipped headlight beam will go Right not Left! Putting a bike onto a Spanish Registration Plate (For example) will cost you a lot of money :eek .. I suggest you do your homework before you move the bike from the UK ![]() It could work out far less expensive and much less agro to sell the UK bike and buy another (better 8) ) one once you are sorted and settled over here in Europe!
