man that was a shitty weekend... - ogri48 - 07-04-14

hadta hire a big sprinter friday night, early saturday morning drive 85 miles to march in cambs, then two hours loading up my mums furniture, then 220 miles up to newcastle and her new flat. shes gone to live in sheltered accom closer to my kid sister. got there at three, two hours to unload, then the 300 mile drive home. on the way back, got the awful news that my ex mother in law (jan, a wonderfull lady of 83), had taken a bad fall and was in a induced coma, not expected to make the night. i got home at eleven, straight to bed, next morning jan still alive but they had taken her off the ventilator as its just a question of time so i had a very fast and very illegal ride from norwich to peterborough hospital, then all day at her bedside with my son, ex wife and my bro in law. i know a lot of mother in laws are hard work, jan was wonderfull, treated me like a son, was incredibly kind to me in the twenty odd years i knew her. even lent me the money for a bike a coupla times many years back when things were tight. i left hospital about nine last night, shes still holding on somehow, as off this morning still alive and they have put her back on a drip to make her as comfortable as she can be but theres no changing the end. i will miss her fucking dreadfully. kinda feel like ive lost two mums this weekend. i really hope there is summat there after death, she deserves to be with her beloved george (he died many years ago),i like to think they will be together again, and walking my old labrador guinness for me, until im there. who knows hey...

You sure wear your heart on your sleeve Ogri...so do i......& it's a good way of dealing with things when times are hard.......if i ever had to see a councillor i reckon i'd be banished for talking too much :b .

Sorry to hear about all that......& the grief will only be compounded by the fatigue & lack of sleep.....trying to get some proper rest will allow you all to provide effective support to each other & it sounds like the family is squared away as far as support is concerned....it's just getting the shifts sorted out so everyone gets the option of a little bit of rest.

What else can i say......to go from this world & be missed is a real achievement worthy of praise..........to be gone & missed by nobody is truly tragic.....so for everyone involved at least you will all have some happy memories.

Keep up the good work & try not to burn yourself out.

I don't know you Ogri but I wish you all the best and hope things pass as painlessly as possible under the circumstances. Maybe when the inevitable happens to all of us we will get to drift off to a better place.

Sorry to hear that Ogri. I'm sure she really appreciates you all being there with her. Remember and take of yourself too, it's easy to just think of everyone else at times like these and then realise you haven't eaten in 2 days or slept in 3. Take care mate
