What's this part? - hightower - 03-04-14 Can anybody tell me what this part does in the cylinder head, listed as number 5 in the picture (attached) http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-fzr600-rh-1996_model10286/plugstraight-screw1hx_9034012112/#.Uz1cxvldW68 Re: What's this part? - Dead Eye - 03-04-14 Blanking bolt for a compression tester? I have no idea :\ Re: What's this part? - Farjo - 03-04-14 Won't one of the Downloads help? Re: What's this part? - hightower - 03-04-14 There's 6 in total, so not sure they'll be cylinder related (compression tester). It has me stumped too. Re: What's this part? - Farjo - 03-04-14 From the Downloads section :rolleyes 90340-12112-00 Cylinder head assy / plug straight screw Re: What's this part? - reddave101 - 03-04-14 If I remember rightly. If you damage one of the thread holes for the plugs you can screw one of these in to the hole to put a thread back into the head so can put plugs back into a tight thread once again. Bit like a tap and dye set.. Re: What's this part? - hightower - 03-04-14 Farjo, if you click my link it gives you that information - doesn't tell you the purpose though. Red - why would you have 6 of them though? That doesn't make sense. Re: What's this part? - unfazed - 03-04-14 Most likely blanking plugs for the water jacket in the cylinder head. Some times holes are drilled to complete water channels and oil ways which could not be fully created when casting and these blanking plugs are then used to seal the holes. Similar to the two oil way blanking plugs on the bottom of the crankcase under the Alternator on the left and directly opposite on the right. |
