Balancing Carbs - Where are the adjustment screws?! - Arfa - 17-03-14 So, treated myself to a Morgan CarbTune Pro thingamajig. Gave it a whirl on my wife's ZZR which was well out of balance. All hunky dory, quick smooch online and through the Haynes manual, all rather straight forward, once I took the fairing off, took tank off and took air box off. ![]() Anyway, onto my Fazer, figured I'd give it a quick balance as it hadn't been done since downpipes went on. Got tank off, located vacuum hose covers and removed, hooked up carb tune and mini aux fuel tank. But where are the bloody adjustment screws!? As it happens the bike was pretty much still in balance anyway, and idle speed was fine, so not too worried, but I was really struggling to locate the adjustment screws. The Haynes manual just has a basic line drawing. Think I found the centre one between carbs 2 & 3. But couldn't spot the too side ones between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. Figured you have to move the bar with coils on out of the way? Did unbolt it, but it didn't really want to move anyway as the end coils were in the way of the brackets. Re: Balancing Carbs - Where are the adjustment screws?! - HarryHornby - 17-03-14 Someone put a really good guide on here that I used with no problems when I first did mine.....now, if only I could find it...... :rolleyes Re: Balancing Carbs - Where are the adjustment screws?! - HarryHornby - 17-03-14 FOUND IT!! ![]() http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,91.0.html Some of the pictures didn't show at first (including the important one showing the location of the screws) I clicked on the little red cross and they opened up. They are tricky to spot at first, and are quite deep in the engine. BTW it is perfectly normal to shat yourself when, (with your head burried deep in the engine balancing the cabs) the fan kicks in to cool the bike. :o Re: Balancing Carbs - Where are the adjustment screws?! - Dead Eye - 17-03-14 They are a pain in the ass to locate and a small torch will make your life easier... the screws are hidden in between the carbs, which you probably already know I usually unbolt the rail holding the fuel pump and coils as it does make access a little easier - I think I removed the coils from the rail at one point but I don't remember if that was for balancing or not... Re: Balancing Carbs - Where are the adjustment screws?! - red98 - 17-03-14 Yep...much easier with the coil rail out of the way, unbolt it and hinge it backwards without putting too much strain o the cables and pipes......torch is a must, I use one of those head mounted jobbies.....very good torch and keeps your hands free....just a shame I cant find it at the moment :rolleyes |
